I like cake and beer. And I think St. Paul is pretty cool.

Oh gee, we wouldn’t want that to happen, would we?
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action

Saint Paul Ward Four! YOU HAVE AN ELECTION TODAY. THAT'S RIGHT, TODAY. (It's a special election for a new City Council rep.)
I wrote about Saint Paul's Ward 4 special election. tl;dr I would vote for Molly Coleman, despite some reservations.

One of the best things about living in the city is having so many ways to get around, including Evie. Carshare makes it possible for us to stay a one car household hating each other.
Did you know the Twin Cities has the largest municipality-owned and nonprofit-operated electric carshare fleet in the country? Evie is now threatened federal funding cuts, but can survive with more users. It saves my family $10k/year by not purchasing a 2nd car. Check it out: eviecarshare.com

Amy really phoned it in with today's post. I get that she's fighting Trump's evil budget, but she should have AT LEAST called out the bill's elimination of trans healthcare. Silence kills.

Oh gosh. This is LITERALLY 95% of all Central Asian and Caucasus language education in the US and Canada (and like 75% of US+Canada+Western Europe) happens. This is an actual national security issue, beyond the academic loss. All of us that study former USSR went through their programs.
This is very, very bad.

A new state law will likely force the closure of hundreds of low-enrollment programs at Indiana University. The cutoff is 15 graduates/year for undergrad majors, 7 for Masters programs, and 3 for PhD programs, averaged over 3 years.

This is exactly what we’re doing. Any purchase we were planning for the next year or two is happening now. We’re spending a lot, but only because we’re planning to spend a lot less in the future.
I've heard execs/Wall St analysts take comfort in fact that consumer spending has held up even as consumer views of the economy are tanking. After all, revealed preferences matter!

But I wonder how much of that disconnect could be explained by cases like this (from a reader):
