This is bananas. Attorneys have a professional responsibility to recuse in certain situations, mandated by the state(s) where they are licensed and can be disbarred for failure to do so. Insane. I imagine this is going to be the final straw for many of the last remaining sane DOJ attorneys.
The U.S. Department of Justice under Donald Trump is preparing to eliminate the ability of U.S. Attorneys to recuse themselves from cases due to conflicts of interest. A new rule expected this week would shift that authority to Pam Bondi.

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

We are officially in the longest full government shutdown in our nation’s history, yet the House has only been in session 12 of the past 100 days. There’s no way to address these crucial issues when we’re currently scattered across the country – the time for Congress to come together & act is now.

There is not one face of the Democratic Party. Tonight proved there are many faces, but each with a commitment to fight back against the reckless failure of the Trump regime and actually serve people.

Thank goodness.

The media's complete lack of curiosity over our nearly 80 year old President's health when he has permanent bruising on his right hand, swollen ankles, facial drooping, disappeared for days from public view twice in the last 2 months and just had an unexplained MRI is notable

This is an excellent explainer on appropriations law. I remember when ADA violations were the holy grail and taken more seriously by agency leadership than any substantive work. No longer.
Trump's mechanism to pay the troops during the shutdown is by far the most illegal budgetary action he's taken as POTUS, potentially setting the stage to break everything.

It's also needless because Congress would easily pass a troop pay bill if Johnson were willing to gavel in.

Long thread.

“He’s just a guy” is something we need to remember about a lot of folks ruining our country right now.
Serious question: What's stopping the State of Illinois from arresting Stephen Miller & charging him with incitement?

The Senate didn't confirm him. He's just a guy.

At some point, the states MUST use their authority to prosecute, because the federal government certainly will not.

As a resident of #Portland it is impossible to capture how unhinged this is. We are a low crime city and the ICE protest "siege" consists of one auxiliary ICE office that normally has at most a dozen weirdos debating what performance art they should use to block a single driveway

Saw my midwife this week and the convo went something along the lines of “we’re ignoring all that, right?” And the answer being “we’re relying on sources that follow scientifically sound studies and nothing is changing” aka not listening to Grandpa Caps Lock
Highly normal. Nothing to see here, folks.

We are so far gone that I’m concerned we will never make it back.
I'm sorry, am I supposed to accept that Trump v. Wilcox, a virtually unreasoned shadow docket stay, has precedential value, but Humphrey's Executor, a near-century-old unanimous merits decision saying presidents can't fire agency heads willy nilly, does not?

This is why I am so confused why people are so hung up on thinking the Epstein files will make a difference. Of course he’s in them. He’s told us who he is time and again. Once the files come out, nothing will change. Strongly worded letters will be sent and everyone will move on in a few days.
I can’t stop thinking about how the Access Hollywood tape came out before the election even happened, yet suddenly we have people concerned that the President might have lied about being a sexual predator who were totally fine with it when he told the truth about being a sexual predator

very grim
