Proudly representing Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District.
The Navy Reserves are crucial to our communities and to our nation’s military readiness - especially here in Maryland’s 3rd District. They are stewards of the Navy’s core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, and represent the high ideals of national service.

Make no mistake, the fight for your health care is not over. While Senate Republicans made a handshake deal to vote on extending the ACA tax credits, Speaker Johnson has made no such agreement in the House.

The President does not have the power to single-handedly deploy the National Guard against American citizens in a time of non-emergency.

Leaving the House floor tonight, I wanted to take a minute to explain why I voted against the Republican spending bill. While I am glad this government shutdown is finally coming to a close, the work to lower your health care costs is far from over.

As the longest shutdown in history finally comes to an end, I’m grateful federal employees won’t have to worry about their next paycheck, parents who rely on SNAP won’t have to worry about meals for their kids, passengers won’t have to worry about their next flight…

This was long overdue. Arizonans elected Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva to represent them over 50 days ago – now, after cancelling votes for seven weeks straight, Speaker Johnson has finally sworn her in.

Exciting news: Columbia’s own Celebration Church just re-opened its free grocery store! Since 1973, the Celebration Church has been a pillar of the Columbia community and beyond – helping our neighbors through their steadfast dedication to public service.

Located right here in Crownsville, the Maryland Veterans Cemetery has interred more than 28,000 Maryland veterans and their dependents who lost their lives – many in service to our country.
November 11, 2025 at 9:17 PM
Our District is home to more than 50,000 veterans, and as the daughter and granddaughter of veterans, I know how important their service is to their families and our nation as a whole.

🇺🇲 Each year on Veterans Day, we recognize and honor the countless sacrifices made by the brave men and women who defended the country we love and call home. Our veterans have selflessly sacrificed for our country – the least we can do is honor their service not just with our words, but with action.

Our federal workers, military, families who rely on SNAP, and government contractors have borne the brunt of this government shutdown. I am grateful for their service and for all the ways that our community has come together and stepped up to protect our most vulnerable neighbors.

U.S. Marine Corps’ 250th birthday means a time to honor our Marines whose determination, bravery, & innovation have been crucial to defending & serving our country throughout history. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am proud to represent and honor our Marines on Capitol Hill.

Huge thanks to the Cub Scout Troop 366 for inviting me and Delegate Dylan Behler to be part of your Citizenship Adventure! 🇺🇸We had a blast talking about our work in the General Assembly and in Congress – but most importantly, the value of civic engagement.

Happy Native American Heritage Month! This month and every month, we recognize the rich heritage and traditions of indigenous peoples and honor the tribal nations – like the Piscataway Conoy Tribe – that have shaped #MD03’s past and present.

SNAP isn’t just a program – it’s a statement of our values and our commitment to our neighbors in need. 680,000 Marylanders and more than 40 million Americans across the country rely on SNAP to put food on the table.

Our interns are a crucial part of our office — answering phones, helping with casework requests, and supporting legislative work for hundreds of constituents. While interns can’t work during this government shutdown, we are beginning to hire for our spring internship program!

President Trump promised to lower costs day one, but his reckless economic policies have done the opposite – driving up costs everywhere from the grocery store to the pharmacy. Now, the Supreme Court is taking up oral arguments on President Trump’s use of emergency powers to impose sweeping tariffs.

Even before the government shutdown, the winter months can be a difficult time for many of our neighbors. If you’re able to, I encourage you to join me in stopping by the Annapolis Police Department’s Thanksgiving Food Drive from now until Monday, November 17th.

Federal workers have continued to show up for the past 37 days of this government shutdown without a paycheck. But Speaker Johnson has cancelled votes for the past six weeks, which means the House has only been in Washington 12 of the last 100 days. That is nothing short of shameful.

Ahead of last week’s critical deadline for SNAP funding, I sat down with Tom Hall on WYPR to discuss the importance of fully funding SNAP, solving our country’s looming health care crisis, and legislation I’m working on in Congress to support our crucial civil servants during these uncertain times.
Maryland Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth on urging the President to fund SNAP as shutdown gridlock continues
Rep. Sarah Elfreth says negotiations over the shutdown are made harder by lawmakers not being assembled in Washington, D.C.

The highlight of my job is hearing directly from you – whether that’s at a Town Hall, at the grocery store, or even at Dunkin 🍩 Thank you, Ronnie and Jordan, for saying hi, and thank you to all our neighbors who came out to Howard County Executive Ball’s countywide food drive.

There are more than 50,000 veterans who call #MD03 home, all who selflessly served our country. Ahead of Veterans Day, we reconvened our Veterans Advisory Council to discuss how we can provide the highest quality of care for our veterans, including alternative treatments.
