c) but that in turn illustrates how, if the structural factors are artificially constructed, they can also be reconstructed to benefit people.

a) these changes illustrate how the “smartness” in what’s framed as an individual smart or dumb choice (your major/grad degree) is determined by structural factors in how they’re rewarded, not their intrinsic value
b) the illustration’s especially stark when those structural factors change overnight
The DoE has reclassified numerous health professional and other degrees, limiting access to federal student loan programs eligible for the higher OBBBA loan caps from thousands to a few hundred.

As ALWAYS, this is about $$.

We're about to become REALLY "great"...

$55 million. Just think of everything that money could have done. Campaign finances absolutely blow my mind
In the weeks before Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral dream went up in smoke on election night, a handful of independent spending groups spent more than $55 million supporting the ex-governor or attacking his ultimately victorious rival, Zohran Mamdani.
Cuomo Backers Burned $65 Per Vote, Including $13.3 Million From Bloomberg
A blizzard of outside spending on ads, including a spot that linked Zohran Mamdani to 9/11, failed to move voters and may have even backfired.

totally agree! I had an 18-month postdoc role with UVA in 2012-2013 and it was beautifully structured—including letting me work remotely so I didn't have to uproot my life for a short-term role
(Side note: if you have funding for a one year position, consider a virtual fellowship - something unheard of in 2019. I can imagine a great position that allowed fellows to stay at home while implementing online professional development and community building plus carefully planned site visits.)

I think it's time to step away from the internet. It's a sunny Friday, I'm gonna stay in my lane and do good where I can and try not to spiral

Schumer is plainly just a massive bigot. he will not support a Muslim for elected office
Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.
