Brooklyn friends: There's a TERRIBLE plan brewing for a new charter school in Sunset Park. It isn't needed—there are already half a dozen public schools within a few blocks. It's sited on a former gas station, which... can't be healthy. And it'll cost millions of taxpayer dollars. Show up for CB7!

As a feminist scholar, she thinks that equality for women today is much better than it has been, but it's still not perfect. In her lifetime, women have made many advances in leadership, but she is concerned that in recent years, women have been losing their rights instead of gaining them. She admires JoAnn Joselyn, her Aunt, because she was the first woman to get a P.H.D in astrogeophysics at her university, and she is a role model for her. My mom believes that in the next 10 years, women will lose reproductive rights at the federal level, they might lose leadership positions in government, and challenges to D.E.I will have a negative effect on women. Her life was different from her mothers' and grandmothers' because she has been able to pursue a career that she cares about. She also has a lot more independence than either of them had, and we live far from extended family, whereas they grew up with grandparents, aunts, and uncles very close to them.”
