Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

It can be surreal to read comics reviews written by people who don't draw. The art style being described here is stylized and expressive, and almost every page of the book includes impressive (and immersive) architectural drawings. Just because a style is manga-inspired doesn't mean it's bad.

I started writing my third original novel. The catch is that I'm writing it as fanfic. I know it will be well-received, and that's great. I'm excited. But what I should be doing is pitching the project to an agent. And how broken is the publishing industry for that not to be the case, you know?

Dreaming Mary is a 2D narrative adventure game about the terrible nightmare underlying a gorgeously pink dreamworld. Should Mary survive the shadows of her psyche and manage to wake up… That’s when the story becomes truly grim. 💖 A short #indiehorror review: digitalfantasydiary.com/2025/11/07/d...

The biggest difference by far watching the various campaigns as a New Yorker and all of the messaging we were targeted with I think is an important takeaway for the whole country:

Cuomo’s entire message was threats and fear and cynicism.

Mamdani’s entire message was lightness and joy and hope.
