a rapid test saved my medically vulnerable mom from a covid exposure this week.

i was meant to go to see my parents on Thursday for the long memorial day weekend. I'd had a hectic week at work and by Wednesday night I was tired and felt my spring allergies were acting up.

well well well, if it isn't the thing everyone said would happen
Went and I checked this, and Edwin's correct: On the left is text from the reconciliation bill "PROHIBITING FEDERAL MEDICAID AND CHIP FUNDING FOR GENDER TRANSITION PROCEDURES FOR MINORS" On the right is from the Manager's amendment that strikes the word "FOR MINORS."

the covid-informed vibe of hearing a talkshow around "how covid has changed you" and every caller so far has refused to agree that this is normal

There is no strict constitutional prohibition against giving the nuclear codes to teenagers, so it’s hard to see why liberals are so upset about the DOGE kids taking over the Pentagon.

Just sharing for no relevant reason whatsoever that the NIH funds the long covid research study/clinical trials I’m participating in and recently found that new cases of ME/CFS are 15 times higher than pre-pandemic levels. Article ends with a call for “more research” 🥲
NIH-funded study finds cases of ME/CFS increase following SARS-CoV-2
ME/CFS is a complex, serious, and chronic condition that often occurs following an infection.

The new White House has already deleted dozens of environmental justice websites and reports. Worry not, they’re all backed up on various independent university websites. eelp.law.harvard.edu/tracker-type...

“Oh, Anna, why don’t you trust the CDC?”

*gesticulates wildly*
IMPORTANT

The US CDC has announced that, going forward, reported SARS-CoV-2 wastewater levels will be normalized to an endemic baseline

"Zero" on this baseline will be levels in the previous year

do any twin cities folk have a local clothing recycler they use? I'm talking for clothing that's quite worn out to the point it's unusable anymore. (I try to donate to clothing closets for usable clothing I don't wear anymore already :) )

I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)

I'd take this a step further: why do so many medical professionals dismiss the airborne nature of COVID specifically? Moreover, why do some seem baffled when high-risk patients wear respirators and make other choices consistent with protecting themselves?
What does it tell you about our current state of "scientific community" & medical field, if medical professionals (nurses & doctors alike) do NOT even mask around immunocompromised people?

The silence of the medical community on medieval disease preventative culture is gross. #medsky #skymed #news
Reminder that our opinion on masks aren’t in a vacuum

Anti-maskers have made oncology clinics and public spaces *more* hostile to mask wearers than they were before Covid began

It’s extra important we loudly promote masking to protect cancer patients www.cancertherapyadvisor.com/features/lac...

when i was shopping for a new car in 2022, the freaking salespeople would don a mask when they saw mine for god's sake
If you see a mask, don't ask (it's not fair to vulnerable people)—just put one on

i support families like Craig's for work as a waiver case manager. I work in minnesota, which has one of the most robust home and community-based service programs in the US.

i can't imagine the fallout from these kinds of cuts, truly. without mincing words:

this is a eugenicist policy.
