Wrote a 5-pg paper on Macbeth in film using nothing but the play and synopses from the back of DVD cases in my local library. Got an A on it and a "great inclusion of Lion King" note. Fuck AI.
I wrote a 15-pg paper on the influence of Balinese shadow puppetry in politics the day before it was due by standing in a Barnes and noble, looking at the bibliographies for mentions of Bali, and then flipping to those pages. My teacher called it the best paper she’d read all year. Fuck AI.
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

Ohio voters & the state's constitution speak clearly: it is every Ohioan’s right to make her own reproductive decisions—and the state shall not interfere or burden that right.

These proposed laws are a slap in the face to a clear mandate from the people of Ohio. www.cleveland.com/news/2025/09...

I HAVE BEEN ASKING THIS QUESTION FOR YEARS! If all products/content/output is crap, STOP BUYING IT, but also, why do they keep making it?!??!
One more theory i have in this vein is that even though we all know about it, we have not really grappled enough with the extent to which rich people don't need the rest of us to be doing well, or even to buy their products, anymore

Hey I don’t know, maybe there’s a Fourth Way called “be progressive and be proud of it, spend your time explaining why it’s actually good for everyone instead of running away from the people you’re supposed to be protecting and asking forgiveness from centrists for not denying their human rights?”

What's truly insane is businesses now talk about how they need to optimise their content to appear in those summaries even though that will still mean....very few clickthroughs.

There is no way to twist the AI overview to your advantage, it's stealing your ideas and your business
The missing piece of the equation explaining why so many critic positions are being eliminated is the little AI summaries at the top of Google results, which reduced click-throughs drastically. Once again, a tech company has stolen human labor and monetized it and doesn't care about the impact.

In summary:

1. Something that is effectively eliminating jobs (AI) and causing more climate change problems,
2. Is putting more of a burden on the average consumer, especially those who are in lower income brackets,
3. Who have to suffer environmentally as a result.

Across much of the eastern U.S., electricity bills have jumped. The reason? Data centers required for AI and other tech wonders are driving up electricity demand.

I try to buy SOMETHING even if it's little or only a few dollars, from any small business I go to. I can afford a little bit from places I love and I hope it helps.
"It boils down to this: If you’d miss a place after it’s gone—be it a bar or a restaurant, a record store or a vintage shop—the easiest way to keep that place around is to go there," writes Falling Knife's Dan Herman.
