Job update time! Today was my first day as Larian Studios' new Storytelling Lead! It's wild to be back in an office fulltime for the first time in more than a decade -- and in another country to boot -- but it's wonderful to find community so far from home.
Got my copy @apwot.bsky.social issue 5 featuring my piece on Yoshitaka Murayama. As usual @cazwis.bsky.social and the rest of the team did an incredibly job putting this together 💜

This Way Madness Lies is a great game and barely anybody bought it. It should be played by more people. If everybody here on @bsky.app banded together and bought a Steam copy and played it, well, that'd be a miracle and I would be forever grateful.

Topline: The MLS is a deeply silly league

More nuanced: I think the real goal is to flip the schedule around so that the MLS playoffs - where viewership is highest - will be against the NBA Finals and baseball instead of the whole NFL / CFB / EPL schedule. It will also kill attendance and the vibe
BREAKING: MLS owners have voted and passed a schedule change. The league will run from the late summer months through May.

This is due to start in summer of 2027. MLS will take winter break in Jan/Feb

if you've got the resources and the need, right now is about as good a time to buy a graphics card as you're likely to see for quite some time (maaaaaybe sales will drive things down for black friday, but most places are already running black friday pricing today). next year looks rough.

this cop wanted a shuppet, who is attracted to negative emotion, so he could use it to find people before they commit crimes. first thing it did was go to his wife who reluctantly revealed she’s resentful of how much he works and is never home.

it’s a fucking yakuza substory.

New Valve hardware finally announced and I think it looks amazing. The new headset feels like it could possibly replace the Quest 3 - more powerful and no Facebook account needed. The GabeCube is just a gorgeous little box that seems reasonably powered.

Itagaki was legendary in the games press for being confrontational as hell, in the dead or alive/ninja gaiden 1 and 2 era he was always good for a wild quote, which English speaking audiences didn’t often get from Japanese devs. Kind of an asshole rockstar persona, another rare thing in games.
