It's crazy that exactly 1 year after Helene, we are talking about another multi-day rainfall event for the Carolinas.
Key difference: This is 6-10" over 5-7 DAYS, not hours. Helene dropped 30" in a day.
Still concerning for flooding, but this is NOT a mountain catastrophe scenario.

Please don’t believe misinformation spread about NOAA and NWS. The MSM wants you to think they are at fault when they aren’t. They government wants excuses to privatize them. Do not fall for the lies. These people work hard to help us even with reduced budget and staff.
There have been claims that NOAA/NWS did not foresee catastrophic TX floods--but that's simply not true. This was undoubtedly an extreme event, but messaging rapidly escalated beginning ~12 hrs prior. Flood Watch mid PM, "heads up" outlook late PM, flash flood warnings ~1am.
WPC issued as many as six MPDs for the deadly flash flooding in the TX Hill Country starting yesterday evening and lasting through much of today. The first MPD generally set the stage for what was to come, while the next three shown were as the event unfolded.

Honestly I think my parents did this right with me: you want a computer? Go build it. And not the latest components or anything fancy. Salvage parts. Buy used. My first PC was a complete scrap heap running Windows 98 that had no reason to boot at all but I learned so much from that thing.
