i genuinely feel terrible if i don't hit the like button on a cat picture that crosses my timeline here. i think this is normal and good. the cats probably wouldn't care if they knew people didn't like their picture, but what if they did? i, personally, don't want to make cats sad. maybe you do.

The Super Mario 64 patent lays out the internal order in which Mario reacts to hazards, essentially laying out his "preferences". This is what Mario believes is worth reacting to, in order from most to least important:
1. Quicksand
2. Poison gas
3. Low health
4. Being cold.

Someone just tried to say that it was emotional blackmail for me to post how I'm upset that I've been trapped inside of my apartment for 4+ years because no one masks. Like, oh, you feel bad? So, mask up? Stop forcing disabled people out of public life? But folks would rather pretend we don't exist.

You read it on Bluesky first: I've quit my job at the Guardian to start a new London local news outlet called @londoncentric.bsky.social.

It's something I've wanted to do for years but the strong reaction to the Evening Standard closing down made me realise it was time to act: londoncentric.media

the fact that some people were genuinely workshopping their little Bluesky shitposts in a second location remains one of the funniest things i've ever heard
My favorite thing was learning people were workshopping their skeets. I had no idea that was something people did until I got here

Lovely people!

Several years ago, I wrote a book called MIDDLEGAME. I still think it's one of the best things I've ever written. It's about math and language and alchemy and sibling relationships and breaking things and fixing things and growing up.

IDW’s new payment plan for creators is exposure? If this is true that per-page budget is insanity.

Also- young creators out there. Publishers who pay an insulting page rate with the assurance you’ll make great royalties are lying.
