I can't really explain fully why this is the thing of all things that got my jaw on the floor but I guess it's such a literal symbol and also such a jaw dropping amount of money while small businesses are struggling to survive the tariffs

Such a visible "go fuck yourself"

Human history:

1. We invented gods to explain complexity
2. We invented markets to manage complexity
3. We invented algorithms to outsource complexity

And now no one knows who’s in charge.

My cats have a particular meow which means "I have a mouse in my mouth at this moment, please come admire my prowess." As soon as I lay eyes on the cat/mouse combo, they lose interest, drop the mouse, and wander off as it scurries away. 🤦‍♀️

They have been enlisted at Lt Colonel rank in the Army (two steps below 1* General). No Boot Camp, no
Direct Commissioning Course, and no Army Fitness Test. The required time commitment is the same as for reservists. (1/)

More people need to start viewing Trump's victory as what it was, a vote of no confidence in the Democratic party. And stop discussing it as though he "won" or that the democrats "lost" since that implies there was any kind of fight.

Stopped clock, twice a day, etc.
In an overall terrible, awful, no good very bad bill, the bit stripping states of the ability to regulate AI is a standout bit of fuckery.
Apparently Marge didn’t read the bill before she voted for it.

The California State Bar Association chose to ditch the expensive, in-person only, Multistate Bar Exam. They hired Kaplan to develop a hybrid exam and Meazure Learning to administer it.
Kaplan used ChatGPT to develop many of their questions, and even had human lawyers review and approve them.
After AI bar exam fiasco, State Bar of California faces deeper financial crisis
The State Bar expects to pay around $5.6 million to offer free exams to test takers, book in-person testing sites and return the exam to its traditional system of questions for its July test.
