Through the discrete lens of power—not partisan politics—just power, voting on a funding bill to reopen the govt in hopes of renegotiating terms at a future time with no leverage has to be high up on list of foolish errands. 1/3

The Trump administration says it will withhold $350 million in grants to hundreds of colleges that serve large populations of minority students, calling the decades-old programs discriminatory.

The way the media is covering the killing of Charlie Kirk is why white supremacy will never end in this country. This is a disgrace.

If Trump can successfully fabricate this staggeringly ridiculous pretext for stripping permanent residence from Khalil, they can do it to me or anyone they don’t like. How the federal judge responds will have broad implications for whether even green card holders may speak freely in this country

“It is no surprise that the Trump administration continues to retaliate against me for my exercise of free speech," Khalil, a former Columbia University grad student, said in a statement.

It was never about free speech.

It was always about protecting whiteness and its discursive power. If it were about speech, they wouldn’t ban the 1619 Project, books, and history itself, or punish those who remind us of the bigotry Charlie Kirk proudly espoused.

what ezra doesn't seem willing to accept is that charlie kirk was part of a political movement that does not think that "we are going to have to live here with each other" and is fact very interested in the elimination and/or subjugation of many, many people
"All I can say for me in the work I do is that I want to create a space that takes our disagreements seriously, that takes the stakes of them seriously, the consequences for people seriously, but does so without deepening our divisions irreparably. We are going to have to live here with each other"

Black women have every right to be furious. The irresponsible choices of white voters has for many of us, taken our livelihood with consequences for our homes, the education of our children, our ability to care for parents.

It’s unconscionable.

Well the thing is they are not going to do that because they do not care about the well being of this city but rather yearn to use it as a punching back while encouraging the aesthetics of militarizing liberal/Black urban enclaves and any analysis of this project should start there. Hope this helps.
Although crime is declining, Washington is still far more dangerous than it should be, Charles Fain Lehman argues. Instead of just looking tough, “the administration should focus its resources on the people and places that make the District unusually unsafe.” https://theatln.tc/6RCOGO23

Pause to consider what this means: The Trump administration will audit admissions data by race, color, and test score.

RACE AND COLOR. COLOR. That’s exactly what Columbia agreed to do.

When’s the last time that someone asked you what color you are? Are you sure the Trump admin agrees with you?
Columbia University has handed over its undergraduate admissions process to Donald Trump and his MAGA allies, who will now decide at their sole discretion whether the university has admitted enough white people. It's no longer an independent institution.

Here's a recent FL special. Enthusiasm among 18-30 year olds is off the charts for those registered as Dems, but not for young Republicans.
