When I think about how childhood religious indoctrination can warp a mind for life, I think about the woman who escaped the Westboro Baptist Church, and wrote a whole book about escaping the cult, only to fall straight into the 'gender critical' cult, and do a fawning podcast about JK Rowling. 1/

Lessons from the election: How defending a people-eating system is an electoral liability; how we don't win fights if we don't fight; how we aren't the opponent of those we won't oppose; and how those who do not lead us where we need to go are not our leaders.

I want to shut up about the election until it happens, and yet, I find that I have to say this or risk regret:

Please vote. For Harris. If not for yourself, then because a queer disabled person directly asked you to vote harm mitigation.

I did it, and I don't love it either.

Imagine being Nikki Haley. You endure all the racism, threats, and hate from running against Trump in the primary, then eat your last shred of dignity and endorse him anyway. Then Dick fucking Cheney comes along and shows how low the bar for moral courage is that you couldn’t clear.

The fact that it's an approved and accepted part of legal proceedings in this broken country to go "okay we are going to bring this suit to a specific county in a specific state to get a specific judge who hates trans people so we automatically win" is one of the most infuriating things in it

Oh my F***ING GOD.

Absolutely outrageous. And under Trump, we came within one vote in the Senate to retuning to this.

Didn’t even have a new plan in place. Just wanted to repeal this.

Just cruel savagery.
Before the ACA: we got a call from a social worker looking for an adoptive family with good health coverage for a baby whose 2 working parents could not afford the surgery she needed for her heart defect. They didn’t want to give up their 3rd child. We said sorry, because we had coverage w a cap.
NICU doctors told me that pre-ACA, complicated babies would max out their LIFETIME caps before their first breath of fresh air outside the hospital.

Our kid’s 96-day stay came to $1.3 million. Add in the follow-ups, and it’s easy to see how fast a kid could hit a $2M or $3M cap.

Cori Bush kept people in their homes during the worst of the Pandemic. She *Literally* slept on the steps of the Capitol to try to keep people from being evicted from their homes. And this is how people do her? I mean jesus h fuck, y'all.
I cannot reiterate to you how stuff like this is gonna knee cap any movement on Palestine.

Cori Bush was the most pro-Palestine member of Congress, Jamaal Bowman became one of the best members during his tenure and they both just got taken out. We have to show politicians they can win w/ us.

Just fondly thinking of the muppet On Here arguing with me a few months ago that this was crucial to stop the (now we know, imaginary) scourge of retail theft.

Wage theft first. Everything else after that.
For my first @bloomberg.com feature, I tried to answer a question that everyone I know has had for years: Is locking up everyday stuff like toothpaste and deodorant doing more harm than good to retailers like Target and Walgreens? (Gift link!) www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...
Retailers Locked Up Their Products—and Broke Shopping in America
CVS, Target and other chains have barricaded everything from toiletries to cleaning supplies. It’s backfired in almost every way.

if the media could go ahead and treat this claim the way they treat Biden saying "I'm fine" - aka, as a lie that requires days on end of front page stories to debunk - that would be great

we'll be over here waiting
Trump is trying to get ahead of the reality that he and the heritage foundation are working to destroy America and institute a fascist dictatorship. He is lying and expecting the media to gaslight America for him.

As a side note, this is John McEntee, Trump's Director of White House Personnel and the primary architect of Project 2025. On Tik Tok he said he gives counterfeit bills to homeless people so they will be arrested when they go to spend them.

those are the stakes in November, full stop
look i'll be clear, I will be voting, and encouraging everyone I know to do the same, against donald trump and the end of democracy in this country in november. I do not care if that means i'm voting for a man who is literally dead.
