The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Conservatism at its core is about maintaining hierarchies... rich over poor, men over women, white over black, and so on. Some conservatives may try to soften this by acts of charity, but they don't concede that people in the less favored groups have enforceable rights. That's the core problem.

The Schumer Mutiny shows what we have always known is true - there are politicians from purple states who run as Democrats who are far more aligned with Republican ideology than they publicly profess. #politics

Canada has a parliamentary system where elections can happen any time. If a government can’t pass a budget, there’s an election, for example.

Small chance that happens this year, despite an election in April.

That’s different from the US, where failure to pass a budget means a govt shutdown.

For political gain, Republicans have proven they are willing to starve millions of Americans. Trump himself withheld funds that could be used to feed the hungry. He truly is the AntiChrist. #politics

So typical that we finally start voting for women to be in power once the country is so beyond broken they realize women are the only ones that can actually fix this shit.

Actual meritocracy, unlike whatever Trump is talking about

The reason these women won is simple, they were the best candidate in both the primary and the election

And the voters figured
that out

Being nice to people is just fun. Asked young server at taco place how her day was going (fine but tired) and she asked me back. I said I managed to finish my to-do list and she unexpectedly gave me a high five! Treating people like people is always rewarding.
