Americans really bought- hook, line, and sinker - the story of the country mouse and the city mouse. That the country was default good and wholesome while the city was dangerous and corrupt.

We'll just side step the obvious racial issues there. Hello Redlining.
Do other countries have this weird notion that you’re not a “real” representative of the nation if you live in an urban center? Like do the French say Parisians aren’t really French? Are you considered not a real German if you live in Berlin? Or is this mainly a weird American thing?

A stack of my favorite novels with themes of fighting for a better world for all.
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

Car's in the shop until at least wednesday as they wait on parts.

Jethro went after Storm again and I got in the middle. Jethro bit me instead. I was wearing jeans so it's just going to a spectacular bruise.

He's got a vet visit monday to be sure it isn't medical. Then speak to a behaviorist.

I don't track my reading, mostly because I kept forgetting to do the tracking stuff and I'd rather just read.

But I run between 15 and 20 books a year. If I could actually make a living at a yt book reviewer, I'd read more.
NEW: How many books did you read this year? If it was more than 2, congrats: you read more than the median American.

Happening now actually, because I said people who refused to wear masks to protect others should be socially barred from public spaces.

It's been an experimental year for me, currently working on a world with both technology and magic.
#DecemberWorldbuilders, friends, how have your felt about your writing in general this year? Did you write as much as you wanted to? Do you *like* your writing? Or does this question make you look at your manuscript in despair?

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

So because they won't let two complete strangers with no credentials in to video children, they are committing fraud?

Why are white men like this? (rhetorical, I know the answer)
uhhh yeah I can see why these childcare properties weren't eager to let in some rando dudes asking "where are the kids?"

"[...] soldier, armed with crossbows, moved to the front of the [redacted] guards. Grips steady on the handles, they aimed, bolts already nocked. They fired, releasing a restringing far quicker than one could with a regular bow."

The revocation of citizenship is a fundamental and brutal discretionary power of the state.

One of the more depressing themes in recent judgments is how the courts nod-along and shrug when faced with this brute exercise of fundamental power, rather than subjecting this power to anxious scrutiny.

Money is a social construct that exists only to divide the 'haves' from the 'have nots' and the world would be better without it. We are a social species and should be taking care of each other, not deciding worth on imaginary numbers.

Do I think this is achievable? Yes, but not in my lifetime.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

I think my first encounter with Second Story was her "Women's Lit is dead because the enterally different genre of romance exists and I can't tell the difference" video.

Clearly she just hates romance in general and non-hetero romance in particular.
The Second Story, AKA author Hilary Layne, recently put out a video claiming that the fall of modern writing and storytelling can be traced to fanfiction. That the process of writing fanfiction has utterly ruined...everything.

I want to set the record straight.
The Second Story Thinks Fanfiction Ruined Modern Writing. She's Wrong.
