Last year, when I was at MSNBC, I did a 10-minute deep-dive into RFK Jr's anti-vaxxer role in the measles outbreak that killed dozens and dozens of kids in Samoa.

I hope every Senator voting in his confirmation process for HHS knows about this crucial and awful story:

Parents only bring their kids to the ER after careful consideration of their available options and their child’s condition. Asking them to objectively triage them is wrong.

This is outrageous.
First Avian flu case in Canada, the teen affected went to the ICU. But they aren't using airborne precautions.
So this could spread to any number of health care workers on that unit, and further beyond.
We have learned absolutely nothing.

To stop crises like genocides, climate change, and pandemics, we need strong mass movements. But when people are more vulnerable to deportation, sickness, poverty, discrimination etc, it's much harder to build strong movements. The living conditions under which we organize matter.

If you are about to start a sentence with some variation of:

❌ “No offence, but…”

❌”Not to sound racist or anything, but…”

❌ “I’m not homophobic, but…”

Please.

For the love of all that is good.

Stop yourself.

I have so many friends & colleagues who are miserably sick right now - as sick as I’ve ever seen them. RSV, pneumonia, influenza… ugh.

Oh, please. Y'all were, at most, asked to experience a minor moment of what housebound disabled people live daily and are still essentially forced to endure because people decided social murder and weaponized nostalgia were preferable to building accessible social range and adopting habit change.
