This is hard to prove but my impression is when thinking about large-scale combat operations, the U.S. Army, and particularly its armor branch, has suffered from a decades long weakening in understanding of combined arms employment/battle that has also leaked into the civilian side

This is a great article that investigates Robotyne and how an ABCT might have to change its concept of operations (and probably its current DOTMLPF-P alignment) to compete in such an environment

In 1981, the Army created the National Training Center and gave it a critical task: to prepare units to “win the first fight.” Central to that task is an OPFOR—the opposition force—that presents rotat...

I love how every pair tanks and drones article for the Army is like just pair them and then manuever is back boys

Uh have we considered that the enemy might not simply allow our drone battalions to massacre their conventional battalions before we commit armor?

What did we want to use AI for in the military again?
“AI helped health professionals to better detect pre-cancerous growths in the colon, but when the assistance was removed, their ability to find tumors dropped by about 20% compared with rates before the tool was ever introduced…”

PLA Navy Type 052DL "Guilin" and China Coast Guard's Type 056 corvette "3104" collide as they harass Philippine Coast Guard vessel BRP Suluan 10.5 nautical miles east of Panatag Shoal.

Tape made from forward of the funnel of BRP Suluan, giving indication how close the CCG vessel was chasing.

While objectively bad - the GWOT comparisons will be hilarious

Book kid sounds superior

Though I did always annoy my dad
Dad: I’m gonna take away all your books if you don’t start behaving
Me: All 200 of them. You’re just gonna take them and move them where?
What people do not tell you is that an educational or craft kit averages ninety thousand pieces, all of which will end up inside or under the couch.
No one ever talks about the dangers of not raising an iPad kid, like when you just need 35 minutes to cook dinner and you have to BEG your 6 year to play on the iPad or video games but they just want to do their 3rd STEM science kit of the day

George Lucas did it again
People using "clanker" as the slur for AI is genuinely funny to me because that comes from the Star Wars Clone Wars animated series where the protagonists constantly do war crimes in a show meant for 12 year olds
‘I've had a disciplinary meeting put into my diary for Friday and I genuinely reckon it's as a result of calling our AI chatbot a "clanker".’

I am sorry but I can’t stop laughing at this.

The FAA will now let commercial drones fly beyond the operator’s line of sight.

The move will "unleash American drone dominance," Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.

As a result, Duffy said, " You may get a Starbucks cup of coffee from a drone."

I’m increasingly convinced there’s gonna be an even more distinct INDOPACOM/EUCOM split between I Corps and III/XVIII ABC in which the three Corps all have the same people and tech but their missions demand unique flavors (wow METTC-I anyone?)

Something I’ve ben thinking about in regards to the US Army and convergence/MDO is the class efficiency vs effectiveness question. How much do we need to be looking at increasing our conformability with reducing some synchronization/coordination (efficiency) to increase VOM (effectiveness)
If you look at how raiding FPV strikes are working, for example, the UAV platoon isn't asking the battalion commander whether he wants to strike. Battalion commander will certain ask for strikes. But a lot of it is - fly a drone around a road - ooh a truck - twitter footage 48 hours later.
