Revenue at Duolingo in 2024 was up 41% on 23 to $748M. Net income was up by 451% for same period and yet they're firing workers. We've long been at "insatiable greed" point of late stage capitalism. People may feel helpless but there's a very easy way to kick companies like this. Delete their apps.
I have completely deleted my Duolingo. I was informed by one of my kids that the company has removed most of its employees and 70% of the company is run by AI.

Once you've accepted that what has happened in the US is a coup and a violation of their democratic norms the solution to this in the hands of the US public is no longer on 2 and 4 year electoral cycles, it has to be Right Fucking Now.

The way to stop the car is remove your foot from the accelerator and press the brakes. The way to do this before going over the edge of the cliff is to do both SIMULTANEOUSLY AND AS HARD AS YOU CAN. Even that *may* not be enough of course. But that would be a silly reason for not trying!
