You wouldn’t believe the lengths @kehyslop.bsky.social had to go to to get basic info on the training for school liaison officers. This contoversial VPD program was briefly shuttered in 2021 before being reinstated in 2023. #vanpoli thetyee.ca/News/2025/11...

As the federal government works toward a deal with Alberta to ship crude from the oilsands through northern B.C., it will have to navigate a long-standing agreement to keep oil tankers away from B.C.’s north coast.

It’s a debate many in B.C. believed long settled.
The Oil Tanker Ban That Dims Alberta’s Pipeline Hopes | The Tyee
The law is six years old. But federal promises to protect BC’s north coast from spills date back decades.

For the citizens of British Columbia, the Cowichan Tribes v. Canada decision in the B.C. Supreme Court has pulled back the curtain to reveal more of the historic land dispossession in our province.

“In my work with cities, one of my messages that resonates most is that the truth about the cities aspirations isn’t found in its plans and visions. It’s found in its budget.

A budget may be the most powerful public policy lever a Council has, and the most authentic one because It reveals so much.”

Council knows I don’t make a habit of this. I can count on one hand the times I’ve spoken to council as a citizen.”

This is completely disgusting. Today, the CDC updated their vaccine safety page. It now says:

“The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism”.

As Vancouverites rally around the city's reportedly endangered sustainability dept, a friendly reminder that its work is why "the city has already shaved 17 per cent off its carbon footprint from 2007 levels & now has one of the lowest per-person carbon footprints of any major Cdn city." #vanpoli

As we await tomorrow's federal budget, we need to have a discussion as Canadians on municipal budgets.

Specifically, how police are increasingly devouring entire municipal budgets to the point other services are being cut or cancelled.

It can't continue.

Some breaking news: in a special Vancouver Police Board meeting only announced over the weekend, the police board has requested a $50 million increase to their budget for 2026.

This comes as other departments across the city are trying to cut staff to ensure a property tax freeze for next year.
