Labour's strategy of telling its supporters to back Reform-style policies, or get a Reform Government, is the politics of the protection racket.

Here's why it's not going to work

At least Tony Blair was looking for a “third way” … a compromise … true centrism.

Starmer’s tactic seems to be to watch what the far-right is saying and then say that.

That’s not centrism. That’s populism … very dangerous … and doomed to failure.

This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

If one assumes Starmer will be gone after May, then the more they try to appeal to the right now, the more that leadership election is going to be about tacking back. (Especially if the Greens do well in London and other cities).

This is a Labour government in name only … fiscally to the right of David Cameron … and now as horribly cruel and morally repugnant as well as they bend over backwards trying to out-populist Reform.

Good luck to the Starmer apologists on here trying to tie themselves in knots defending this one!
"The era of permanent protection is over"

Is this Labour government really saying it was wrong in principle to let these refugees of the last 75 years to stay, settle and become British - and they believe that should NEVER happen again in principle or practice?

Fuck Wes Streeting
Health Secretary Wes Streeting says that the British Medical Association, which represents Britain's doctors, is a threat to the NHS. Streeting took a record £225k from private healthcare-related donors in just two years.

They've taken all the political pain of raising income tax, and now they're not going to do it.

Absolute shitshow.

Now what are they going to do instead?

“Any other Labour leader would be 20 points ahead in the polls”
Keir Starmer under pressure from ministers & MPs to sack Morgan McSweeney

“If it was an orchestrated campaign to shore up the PM, then it’s had the opposite effect; it’s spectacularly backfired. I don’t see how Morgan can survive when Keir has ended up in a weaker position than before.”

Imagine having the amazing career Keir Starmer had in law, and then pivoting his career to politics ... getting control of the Labour Party and then winning a huge majority

How bad would you have to be at your job to then haemorrhage that lead in the polls such that Nigel fucking Farage could win?
November 12, 2025 at 1:01 AM
I mean ... he's gone already isn't he? All of this is just putting off the inevitable.

The right of Labour used the unelectability of Corbyn as the main mainstream excuse for their disloyalty to the party's democratically elected leader.

Starmer's current polling is significantly lower.

I’m old enough to remember when the Director General of the BBC categorically didn’t resign after one of its flagship politics shows literally photoshopped Jeremy Corbyn with a Soviet hat and painted red with the Kremlin in the background like some kind of Cold War-era communist mural.
