Oh yes, that’s right I read all about it in the Daily Mail. Of course I did.
With thanks to @lunaperla.bsky.social, who created this summary.
It's easy to focus on negatives. Here are some good things:

i don’t know Why more people aren’t seeing that;

the kinds of power that billionaires play with works on the mind like radiation works on bodies—it breaks them down…

musk is insane and that is bad; but madness in combination with vanity, vindictiveness, pettiness, lack of empathy? That is worse.

I agree that proper opposition is important, but when you hear what Trump is up to I feel really glad that we’ve got Starmer and not some right wing loon like Badenoch or Farage who would cling to Trumps coat tails.
On the week of Trump's inauguration @timothysnyder.bsky.social's article is especially pertinent - and perhaps makes us feel a little better about our own political system? (Article republished by permission of the author)
Shadow Cabinet: why the US needs one now
A 'loyal opposition' to Trump's rule by the wealthy few is vital. New visions for a better America must be generated

On the face of it, this change would save money and be more efficient. Why are the councils not being told to amalgamate? The high earners and the councillors may well be adversely affected. You would still need the same number of bin men but only one boss bin man.

Absolutely correct. This is why we need to grow @bsky.app. We need to do it at pace and with urgency
It is not free speech when Trump aligned oligarchs have their thumbs on the algorithms of all the social media apps.

Come on Britain, let’s catch up with the Germans. Owning a site on social media shouldn’t allow anybody to simply lie on an on going basis.
Over 60 German universities have left platform X, citing its failure to uphold values of diversity, freedom, and scholarship. It’s vital to stop giving such platforms power; leaving hits their revenue stream, sending a clear message that inclusivity and accountability are non-negotiable.

He orchestrated a coup. It failed.

He was a convicted felon.

He rose to power on a wave of divisive propaganda and hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric.

He promised to make things great again.

He threatened to annex his neighbors.

I'm referring, of course, to Adolf Hitler.

I see three distinct phases. Pre-Fox, when opinion was diverse but actual facts were indisputable.
Fox/Trump, where objective truth was subjected to the false equivalence of ‘alternative facts’ (ie lies).
And now, where media & tech platform owners collude with him to drown out the truth altogether.

Oh and Zuckerberg is removing Meta fact checkers

Why? “To protect free speech”. FACTS AND FREE SPEECH ARE NOT THE SAME.

They’re removing access to objective truth and reality. To create chaos. This’ll open the doors to unprecedented foreign interference/bots.

The broligarchy is well underway.

Starmer changed the CPS threshold and policy, so such investigations WOULD go ahead, but he couldn't change the past. Tories set up several inquiries, some of which only reported in Jan 24. Small delay (probably due to election) and now the findings are being implemented

I've been critical of Starmer, but he's been excellent today. I hope he maintains his newly-discovered backbone, and realises he's the FUCKING PRIME MINISTER, and can afford to take on the right wing media. In fact, he can't afford not to.

At the moment Thames Water is worth nothing. Take it into public ownership at no cost and dint feel sorry for the shareholders, they’ve had their pounds of flesh many times over.
Thames Water's only source of income is YOU, the customer

A bailout would cost every household *£250+ a year*

Instead, Steve Reed could withdraw its licence

Bring it into PUBLIC OWNERSHIP NOW

If I can briefly translate.
We’re not out to screw you. It’s all the fault of nasty foreigners. If we get rid of them beer will be 8p a pint again, or as we like to call it 1 shilling 9 pence.
People who believe a lie once or twice are forgiven but those who continue to believe it are beyond hope.
Nigel Farage, "Until we can deport those that should not be in our country.. And we'll never do that signed up to a convention to an outdated court in Strasbourg"

"We have have to leave the ECHR and get rid of those who should not be here"
