"'What ails you, Polyphemus,' said the other Cyclopes, 'that you make such a noise, breaking the stillness of the night, and preventing us from being able to sleep?'
"But Polyphemus shouted to them from inside the cave, 'Noman is killing me!' as he slowly shrank and transformed into a corn cob
"But Polyphemus shouted to them from inside the cave, 'Noman is killing me!' as he slowly shrank and transformed into a corn cob
This would explain why Musk is utterly crashing out on Twitter insisting that he’s well read. I don’t think he knows the Iliad and the Odyssey are different books.

Hello poetry friends. I'm looking, for a thing, for examples of poems that quote from TV characters in a way that makes it clear they're doing so without resorting to eg footnotes or similar. Any suggestions? I feel like I've seen it, but my mind is blanker than a blankety blank.

I always found this an unnerving building, growing up near Norwich -- like we'd driven to the moon by mistake
NEWS: C20 has supported an application to list the majestic Norwich Sports Village (1987-88), the only concrete shell structures in the UK designed by pioneering Swiss engineer Heinz Isler, utlising his innovative ‘inverted membrane’ and ‘plumped pillow’ method.

Wonderful BBC archive clip about black magic in Norfolk in 1964 - soot-blackened sheep’s hearts, weird effigies, and isolated fenland villages.

Was really struck by what a lovely inspiring exercise this is, like a primary school version of Mary Oliver’s Instructions for living a life
Pay attention.

No more noble British tradition than resigning over some nonsense everyone is only pretending to be angry about rather than all of the actually bad things you've done.

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

Just having this thought again as I listen to two hours of @gidcoe.bsky.social on a Thursday night after work and feel how far Spotify is from ever being able to provide such a satisfyingly wide-ranging soundtrack to the washing up
Algorithms are making everything blander, so hats off to Gideon Coe who in the last half hour has played Fats Domino, Flanders & Swann and Boards of Canada on BBC radio
