Leviticus 23:22: “‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God.’”

So when is a double-murder not a double-murder? When it is carried out by Israeli police in the West Bank in full view of a video camera and approved openly by a government minister.

Students should have just boycotted the new university fees system when it was introduced. It would have been scary for a year, then normality would have had to ensue, as it sis in the likes of Germany. Instead, we have the fucking disaster we see now.

The diplomatic "achievement" of the ceasefire was to recalibrate the tempo of the genocide sufficiently to get it off the front pages and the news bulletins, thus alleviating the political pressure on Israel's western accomplices.

I heard a story about a female academic giving a paper at the IHR who, after receiving a long and aggressive question from a senior male professor, simply leaned back with her hands behind her head and replied “Oh, do fuck off.”
One of my colleagues went to a seminar at Berkeley and when someone asked a question Derrida brushed it off saying ‘what you ask may be important but it is not interesting’.
This path leads to chaos.

With over 112,000 killed, new study links Gaza’s massacre to past genocides
A devastating new study has found that more than 112,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel launched its assault in October 2023. This figure, drawn from the most extensiv…

And the point of going to university is?
“It’s only fair that you pay back the costs of going to university because you’ll get a better paid job at the end of it … but we’re going to make you pay back those costs even if you get a job at near minimum wage because we’d otherwise have to tax millionaires.”

And remember that MA loans are repaid concurrently with BA loans. A system that was designed to share the costs between state and graduate is transforming, in broad daylight, into something grimly different. 2/2

Changes to the terms for UG loans are rightfully getting some attention this morning, but this MA news is almost unbelievable. The government is effectively taxing MA graduates (or, specifically, those whose parents don’t pay these fees). 1/2
For master’s loans in 2024-25, the underlying maths says the government actually makes money – not loses it. DfE estimates a RAB charge of –20.6 per cent - for every £100 it lends, it expects to get back about £120.60 once you adjust for the time value of money.

My careers advice for youngsters. Capitalists aim to gouge you until you are 75 & then see you die as quick as possible. Tell them "fuck you" & find some other way. You only have one life. Don't let these fuckers spend it for you. Cos they are really desperate to use you up & toss you in the bin.

I don't know why this idea is suddenly flaring up online so early, but yeah, this time next year, Voyager 1 will be one light-DAY away – meaning it will take light a whole 24 hours to travel between Earth and the spacecraft. For comparison: Mars is a few light MINUTES from Earth!

So bored of government bods talking of the money that is servicing the UK’s debt. What matters is what the debt is enabling. You can’t buy a house without servicing mortgage debt, but no one says that money is better spent elsewhere. Their financial stupidity means they can only see austerity ahead.

the bbc changed their article from saying 'trans woman' to saying 'biological male who identifies as a woman'.

even if you don't care about trans ppl it should alarm you just how captured the bbc has become.

they will no longer even say 'trans woman'. that's not normal and shows massive bias.

Always amazes me that people think UK pensioners have it best. They do but only when compared to the shitty treatment of everyone else in the UK. This country is so fucked up, but you would neve know it from the brain dead racists blaming foreigners.
Neoliberal IFS wants govt to ditch the triple lock on state pension.

Silence on corporate welfare, taxing the rich/corporations.

UK state pension is almost the worst in Europe.
2m retirees live in poverty. 110,000 a year die in fuel poverty.

How many pensioners does the IFS kill?

The UK must remove the pension triple lock
With each economic shock, it ratchets up the value of state retirement payments relative to average earnings

In the early 80s, millions of people who'd risked their lives to defeat Hitler, and lost friends and family in the struggle, were still around.

Farage has been spitting on them his whole life.
Just for context, in the early 80s, saying stuff like ‘Hitler was right’ wasn’t the kind of eye-roll stuff you see on a daily basis online (and in mainstream US politics) today, it was a kind of terrorist level of political extremist view.
