Evening all! I’m a lecturer in publishing studies at the University of Stirling, as well as the author of a few books for Amber Books. I sort of built what passes for my career by being on Twitter, so I’m sorry to see it go, but needs must.
Catatonia’s biggest hits were some of their dullest songs: disappointing zeitgeist surfing. But Dead From the Waist Down (a top ten single) is fragile and gorgeous, and I love it.

BBC “whistle-blower” is a right-winger deliberately drawing only on right-wing groups. What a surprise.
🔴 The Pro-Trump Bias of the ‘Neutral’ Sources in the Leaked BBC ‘Prescott Dossier’
Byline Times’ analysis of key sources in the memo about the BBC’s alleged ‘progressive bias’ shows it relied on highly partisan, Trump-aligned organisations.

Dear oh dear: this year’s Telegravda complaint about the Booker is that book’s aren’t edited enough. Not linking to it because … well, it’s the Telegraph … but the predictability is so tedious. There’s always something to complain about, and this year it’s a lack of editing. Next year, woke again?

Really annoyed at the fact that I went on a twenty-minute walk yesterday evening to bring myself within reach of my 10,000 steps for the day, then missed it anyway because I was still sitting in my armchair, 150 steps short, when midnight caught me unawares.

Day has not started well: had only turned the first corner on my way to campus when my bike chain snapped, and I’ve had to take the bus.
On the plus side, I suppose it would have been worse if I’d got further from home and had to walk the bike all the way to work.

For my (manifold) sins, I'm spending an hour this afternoon getting our publishing students to engage with LinkedIn. Who do you reckon are the best publishing-related people to follow on there?

The BBC should serve as an example to all that there is nothing you can give the far rabid right that will satisfy it.
It has simpered, pandered, soft-balled and fluff-jobbed, both-sidesed and debased itself into being a platform for liars to look down the camera and lie on, & it still gets fucked.

Worth remembering that it was the Tory government paceman Tim Davie who suspended Gary Lineker from Match of the Day for criticising the Tory government’s 1930s-Germany-style policies, then had to climb down humiliatingly. Good riddance, Tory Tim.
