I *just* stopped posting about this, bc I don't want to be a jerk to Andrew, but people need to stop seeing a blind quote from a Dem and saying "that's what every Democrat thinks."

It's what a diaper-filling wimp who won't use his name thinks! Meanwhile a bunch of Dems are going to El Salvador.
Seriously tho there’s no salvaging this party
One House Dem called deportations a “soup du jour,” telling @axios.com Trump is “setting a trap for the Democrats, and like usual we're falling for it."

“Rather than talking about the tariff policy ... we're going to go take the bait for one hairdresser.” www.axios.com/2025/04/16/d...

Trump and Vance are desperate to talk about anything other than the economy. The instinct might be to avoid what's happening with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, but that would be a mistake. We have a chance to take away their last political strength by reminding people these idiots can’t get anything right.

By this point in the early 2020 Covid stock market crash, we had already regained about 50% of the decline.

Having written a kind of first draft of that history myself, voters have even more to answer for
I feel like when the history of this time is written by intelligent and reasonable historians, traditional media and social media will have a lot to answer for.

Say what you will about people calling their Senators newly horrifed to demand action, that's at least a theory of politics with a clear mechanism for change and a clear way to organize neighbors, unlike smugly posting that the American project was always fascist & asking why anyone is surprised.

They all have their ChatJD’s.
DOJ just argued in the MSPB/NLRB case that they have a strong likelihood of success because 'if we have a 40% chance of success on two separate issues, that combines to a 65% chance of success on the merits.' What an absurd argument.

There is no state of the world where the US violently invades and annexes Canada and there are free and fair elections in the United States

These two states of the world are incompatible

It’s unreal - the DOD deleted its page for Charles Calvin Rodgers, a Medal of Honor recipient who was wounded three times while defending against three assaults on his base in Vietnam. Now the URL includes “DEI Medal of Honor.” There’s something about Rodgers I don’t even have to tell you

It's safe to say that anyone who sees empathy as a human weakness is not, by my definition, human.

Seeing your own essence in other people is what makes us human. It connects us. It is the opposite of weakness. It is everything. This is why I've spent my life focused on art.

ppl getting angry at this but he's talking alliances and he's 100% right- you cannot trust a country where every 4 yrs the foreign policy does a complete 180 & tears up treaties and reneges on deals and withholds payments because some sheep farmers in Wisconsin think too many black women have jobs
America is over. There is no coming back from this.

If we're lucky maybe we claw back some small-l liberalism for our daily lives. But even that might be too much to hope for.

The rest of the world has to move on from us.

They now know that the American people can't be trusted.

They're right.

I want to tread carefully here, but I think a broadly under discussed aspect to our Current Moment is this is essentially the first time in human history when a person can accrue massive influence and political power without any social skills whatsoever, or even the ability to exist in public.

What I've realized covering games, especially over the last 2 years: The people who say the loudest "dont put your politics in games" are often the loudest in telling everyone what parts of *their* politics they want in games.
