The next Democratic president should declare that the National Emergencies Act and Article II of the Constitution allow him to:

•admit D.C. and Puerto Rico as states
•abolish ICE
•grant citizenship to any immigrant
•disband the 5th Circuit
•expand the Supreme Court

Seriously: Why the hell not?

Gov. Tim Walz has called the shootings of Rep. Melissa Hortman & Sen. John Hoffman what they are: politically motivated assassinations. Tragically, Rep. Hortman & her husband did not survive. Sen. Hoffman & his wife are out of surgery, but no other details are available yet.

Straight-up misogyny is the explanation for 2024 that accords best with the actual vote shifts. But for some reason if you mention it a ton of people rush out of the woodwork to go “no no no! it’s inflation and Harris’s policy choices! Which for some reason only men cared about!”

Marjorie, I know the truth confuses you and facts ain’t your strong suit—so let me break it down real slow:

George Floyd didn’t die from drugs. He died because Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for 9 minutes. That’s called murder.

Anyone else find it strange that a man with a 14-year heroin addiction is railing against Narcan—the lifesaving drug that helped drive a sharp drop in overdose deaths after a federal distribution program?

No one said Narcan cures addiction. It prevents funerals. That’s the point. The facts 👇🏾

This is exceptionally well reported: in case after case Trump has surrendered long time US interests to favor Russia and gained nothing in return. When you put it all together it a staggering surrender.

WTF? FBI agents arrested a Milwaukee county judge on Friday, accusing her of shielding an immigrant from federal authorities. The allegation? That Judge Hannah Dugan “intentionally misdirected federal agents away from” someone they were pursuing, according to a now-deleted post by Mr. Patel.

It seems like the federal government wanted to commandeer the judge into doing their law enforcement work, which they cannot do as a constitutional matter. Refusing to assist the federal government is not the same as actively impeding law enforcement. This is highly suspect behavior from the feds.
Seeing claims about the judge "hiding" the defendant. Read the complaint, folks (written by DOJ). The guy was literally in the public area where the agents were. I guess he got on an elevator before they could get to him. The complaint says after letting the defendant exit she came back to the bench

This is absolutely horrifying. People can't afford to file Habeas petitions. And how is anyone going to enforce that this actually happens? And what about the people there that did NOT get due process?

Please stop listening to people who make all of their money selling TV ads. Just...every Monday for the next year, spend time imagining what you'd do if you couldn't spend money on TV and had to do other things with that money.

I do wish this was more part of the story.
This jibes with contemporary reporting that the raids hit several residential buildings, in each case killing about 15 people and wounding more. Maybe a little more of the conversation should be about how cavalier we apparently are about bombing civilian homes? www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/3/...
