In BC, kids were thrown back to school with no meaningful protection from airborne viruses+the mask mandate was dropped before <12 yo could get vaccinated with a booster. Caregivers were assured of safety. Those who were harmed should get compensation. There was no alternative for formal education.

Postsecondary students are particularly vulnerable to repeated COVID-19 infections, putting them at risk for post-COVID condition, or long COVID. Campuses can take action to protect them.

The preliminary sequence from the H5N1 human case in British Columbia has been posted and it is not good news. The virus potentially has a quasispecies at HA residue 226 (H3 numbering). This is bad news because we know that mutations at residue 226 can increase binding to human receptors. 1/
