Quebec's government is about to introduce a new secularism law which will ban the niqab on campus, campus prayer spaces and daycare workers and ECE students from wearing religious symbols. All to try and save their racist asses in the polls.

Quebec's new secularism bill expands the scope of who the government officially hates
Today, the Coalition Avenir Québec is introducing, An Act respecting the reinforcement of laicity in Québec (the name is better in French, surely).

Mark Carney and Danielle Smith’s MOU is an abuse of power and a spit in the face to British Columbians. They will never ram a pipeline through BC without the consent of Coastal First Nations and Northern Communities, and we’ll make fucking sure of it. #bcpoli

Two children have been killed every day in Gaza since the so-called ceasefire began.

Why has this disappeared from the headlines?

The genocide never ended — and our government is still complicit.

End all arms sales to Israel, now.

Western leaders attending the Sharm el-Sheikh summit have enabled and sponsored this slaughter. They are in no position to build a Palestinian future, says Guardian columnist Nesrine Malik

While there is "some joy" in knowing that bombs have stopped falling on Gaza, Israeli historian Ilan Pappé warns that many Israeli leaders remain committed to using violence in order to "wipe out Palestine as a nation, as a people and as a country."

Ilan Pappé's new book is "Israel on the Brink."

I am once again asking Canadian journalists to ask the most basic-ass question of "on whose land will these be built?" How is it that every other major industry must consider Indigenous rights but with tech it's like "meh".

The Free Press reporter who wrote the piece about how Gazan kids aren’t actually starving that badly because some of them had preexisting conditions was hired directly from Matt Yglesias, fwiw
As one of the countless people *actually* cancelled by Bari Weiss, via her vast favor-trading networks of fellow nepotistic gatekeepers in media and publishing, I think both of these asinine dipshits should go fuck themselves.

1. Done nothing for Canadians detained by ICE
2. Done nothing about Gaza except spewing the same ol shit
3. Got caught lying about continuing to arm Israel
4. Said nothing about a 🇨🇦 ICC judge sanctioned by Trump
Did I miss anything?

This is a dark stain on football, and will always be remembered as such.
That UEFA nor FIFA did or said anything about the hundreds killed and complete anhialation of football in that region is deplorable.

I think we should all find it very, very difficult to live our lives normally considering everything that's going on. Every time you see a Microsoft brand or owned company, it should remind you of this right here. The literal least you can do is not give them your money or free advertising.
I know a lot of you have already heard or read about BDS Movement's call against Microsoft, and felt weird and bad about it all, but decided to move forward as normal because of some degree of ambiguity.

"What service is Microsoft providing?"

Here it is, clear as day. A direct line to death.

A journalist with Canada’s public broadcaster was not allowed on the Canadian plane air dropping aid into Gaza because of Israeli restrictions.

When she made it onto a Jordanian plane, she was not allowed to film what she saw on the ground in Gaza because Israel forbids it from being shown.

Imagine these headlines about photos of Jews during the Holocaust. It's really unbelievable how low humanity has sunk. Germany, by the way, had multiple articles like this all week
The editors who published this should go straight to The Hague. I mean literally, according to the terms of international law such as it exists.

Are you fucking kidding me?

NYTimes just pushed this notification for Bret Stephen’s July 22 opinion piece, “No, Israel Is Not Committing Genocide in Gaza.”

so when you…

• force this tech on most everyone

• block it from acknowledging trans people even exist

• remove lgbtq people from human rights reporting & allow ICE to conceal info on trans people in custody

…it seems like a good time for cis folks to stop considering political “compromises.”
Trump's new executive order about AI states that companies' models must not incorporate the idea that trans people exist as a concept. Seems bad.

Okay, I will say this: the famine in Gaza is a deliberate policy decision by Israel to mass murder two million people and they are doing this on the dime of US taxpayers.

The bloodstains from this will never wash off.
I don’t have commentary for this… it is just horror.
