I wrote a piece for Sports Politika on the stunning silence in women's football on attacks and deaths of fellow footballers in Palestine and in Lebanon.

The unbearable silence in women’s football
While women footballers have been trailblazers in advocating for gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and refugee support, many remain conspicuously silent on Gaza and Lebanon, writes Shireen Ahmed.

Folks, Israel is not letting aid in which means Palestinians continue to have to buy food on the black market from Israel sponsored gangs. If you can donate a little money to the fundraisers we're posting, you can keep someone alive. Palestinians wouldn't beg if they didn't have to.
UNRWA has enough food outside #Gaza to supply people there for 3 months, amid desperate need. Our teams stand ready to deliver it.

But despite the #ceasefire, the Israeli Authorities’ block on UNRWA bringing any supplies into Gaza still continues.

Let us get aid into Gaza at the full scale needed.

The NWSL quietly updated its public-facing extreme heat policy since the Aug 16 delay in KC. The league says the edits aligned the external doc with a change that was implemented internally in 2023; the NWSLPA says it was not aware of the removal of a key clause. My report for the Guardian‬:

This is a dark stain on football, and will always be remembered as such.
