#OTD 19 September 1991, walkers in the high Ötztal alps on the Italian border, found a body melting out of the ice. It turned out to be the remains of a c.5200 year old man preserved with all his kit.
Of course, it was essential to replicate him in Playmobil.

You’ve seen this movie before: Maybe Reagan guessed, Bush hoped, and Trump tried—but tax cuts never paid for themselves. Given the mountain of evidence, claiming once again that "tax cuts will pay for themselves" is no longer ideologically motivated optimism.

It's a lie.

While Jefferson remains so often quoted and lionised, his wickedness should never be overlooked.
While we’re on founding fathers, I think people actually *underrate* the Gothic horror of Jefferson and Sally Hemings. She was his slave, she was also his dead wife’s much younger half sister as a result of Jefferson’s father in law raping *his* slave.

Interesting thought.
Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but.

It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies

But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI

This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

This law is true.
When deciding whether to engage disingenuous fools, I’ve been thinking about pros and cons. One key factor against it is Brandolini’s law: The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it.

May 8 - Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism.

Ukraine and Europe honor the millions lost in the deadliest war of the 20th century.

We remember the resistance, the fallen, and the civilians who suffered under occupation, deportation, and forced labor.

We remember.
