My first pen commission! A former student of mine commissioned a fountain pen in Purpleheart (Peltogyne purpurea), a timber which goes purple when exposed to UV light. But that means when you turn it down to pen size, you're left with dull brown wood. Here's how to bring the purple back quickly:

I will never, ever stop posting this tweet anytime anyone says anything about Bond:

I'm sure some of the mushroom-trial fans would have considered it.
"Oh, it was the winter of 23
when Erin had her folks to tea,
A tale so grim then did unfold
of murder served with gravy
Her poison plan was passing bold
Beware the mushroom lady"

New rule: Everyone has to sing their true crime podcasts instead of narrating them
You ever think about how there was only 1 to 2 months between the actual wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Gordon Lightfoot recording his song.

And how weird and slightly deranged it would be if someone had dropped a banger about a contemporary disaster on its heels.

Winds of Winter, new Tool LP and RDR3 to all drop on the same day

Anyone seriously think we'll see this title before 2030?

Go ahead, buy a guinea pig today and see if it's still around to sit next to you as you play RDR3.

MEDIA: RDR3 is in pre-production! Get excited!

Also, 11,000 signatures against a late-night McDonalds? Maybe check whoever runs Lambs for RSI…

I was finally going to be able to grab some nugs on the way home from the monthly 774 slot. Curse those starched shirt pencil-pushers in Gower Street!
Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Apparently not, the Federal Court says you can publish its judgments so long as they’re properly attributed.

John Laws is getting a state funeral. Really?

Makes sense in that both decisions involve not paying authors.

I don't imagine it comes up often.

Didn't see; I saw it, opened it, realised it was literally just the judgment text packaged with a Foreword, and put it back on the shelf at Readings.

Missed this at the time. SMH dwelling on the fact MUP didn't have Justice Lee's authorisation, but no mention of the fact they didn't have Brittany Higgins' blessing either.
Judge ‘did not authorise’ Lehrmann judgment book
The announcement of a book reproducing Justice Michael Lee’s decision has provoked a stern response from the Federal Court.

I remember back in the Other Place defending MUP for all the political memoirs they kept putting out, and then they go and pull stuff like this.

You can buy Justice Lee's judgment in Lehrmann v Network Ten Pty Ltd as a book.

That... doesn't feel right?
