It’s outrageous they’re killing innocent people, but we also need to stress, every time, that it would not really matter even it were absolutely certain that they were drug traffickers. Murdering criminals is still, you know, murder.
The government has killed 32 people in 7 strikes with no evidence they were traffickers. The admiral leading the mission quit. If we had proof, they’d face a court, not a drone.

The law still applies, even to suspected drug traffickers, and right now, the Administration’s story isn’t adding up.

If you’re an immigrant with legal status who’s committed 0 crimes you can be sent to a torture prison where you’ll be raped and dehumanized.

If you’re old pals with Trump and ran a pedophile ring you get sent to a cushy minimum security prison despite being ineligible because you’re a sex offender.

Summers is not a fire breather or some left winger. He slimmed down Obama’s stimulus and he said Biden’s Covid stimulus would overheat the economy. So him saying this is a big damn deal.
Larry Summers: "This is way beyond anything Nixon ever did ... this is the stuff of democracies giving way to authoritarianism. Firing statisticians goes with threatening the heads of newspapers, launching assaults on universities, launching assaults on law firms. This is really scary stuff."

But officials realized they needed Noem’s approval before sending additional assets. Noem didn’t authorize FEMA’s deployment of Urban Search and Rescue teams until more than 72 hours after the flooding began.”

Remember, if something awful happens in a red state it’s disgusting to question political leaders and their responsibility. But if something awful happens in a blue state well, it’s only natural to blame it all on the libs or the one (1) trans person who was employed by the city for a few years.
Rep. Roger Williams on people questioning the response to the Texas floods: "Why don't they write a nice letter to somebody? Why don't they down there and say 'we're gonna pray for these people'? Let's hold hands and do that."

We've never been more in need of a free and independent press to protect our rights and serve as a check on abuses of power.

Instead, Paramount and CBS have betrayed the core values of journalism.

Paramount Global will pay $16 million to settle President Trump's lawsuit over 60 Minutes' interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris — a lawsuit that many legal experts considered spurious.

If this bill passes:
- 17 million people would lose health insurance.
- 5.4 million more families would face increasingly higher medical debt.
- 380 rural hospitals would be at risk of closing.
- Health care premiums would go up for everyone.
- An additional 51,000 people could die each year.

The former president bet that the economic benefits of his policies would protect them over time. Trump and the GOP-controlled Congress have upended that wager.

This isn’t just a bill.

It’s a fundamental restructuring of American society in which the poor are abandoned, and “immigration jails” outrank healthcare.

Billions taken from one and given to the other.
Judd Legum explains 7 of the things in Trump's megabill:
1. Cuts $930B from Medicaid
2. 16M lose health ins
3. Slashes food asst for poor families by $186B
4. Lower incomes for bottom 40% of families
5. Increases deficit by $3.3T
6. $45B for new immigration jails
7. Billions for defense contractors
7 things everyone should know about Trump's megabill
The Republican reconciliation legislation, which Trump calls his "big, beautiful bill," is massive.
