I am queer. I love transit and i am a transit geek and enjoy city living. I love Arsenal, TFC You can find me in 114 for TFC.
i am also a comic collector and pop culture lover.
You hate trans folk, i hate you.
What’s hilarious is the name change was at the request of TMU and they’re fully paying for it.
In Toronto Twitter, Bluecheck Bozos are crying like babies because they’re changing the name of Dundas subway station to “TMU” because of the legacy of Henry Dundas (who delayed the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade and had a street named after him which is also being changed)

Zilch, because in many places in America? and even canada) a 10 minute drive might be a 30-60 minute bus/train ride.
For transit to be an alterative, it needs to be frequent, reliable and accessible.
i wonder how much of Americans' views on driving vs. transit would change if they had to pay for gas/insurance/etc every time they turned on the engine

"i'm not paying $5 to take the train to work twice a day when i can just drive" is a genuine opinion held by so many people
November 23, 2025 at 2:46 PM
This city is happy to spend $420 Million on Lansdowne 2.0, but 900K to make its lousy transit more affordable and rider friendly is “hefty.”

Fuck sakes.

I wish there were more later trains, but this is a good start.
Happy first regular weekend GO Train on the Kitchener line! Considering most folks had to get up before 7 to get ready to be here, and that it's the first day, I'm blown away at the turnout. Platform was crowded; my guess is 150-200 people.

It’s because Canadian Cities didn’t get funds for development tools.
When the US was swept with the new-streetcars-mixed-with-traffic fad in the 00s, Canada didn’t build a single one. They only built rail in exclusive lanes.

I wonder if that’s because most educated Canadians have visited Toronto and experienced its old streetcar lines.

That section of REM isn’t elevated, anyone can access the tracks if they wanted to, though i’m sure it’s highly unlikely to be a recurring issue.
THIS JUST IN: 1 dead, 2 in critical condition after REM train collision on Montreal's South Shore

The incident occurred after "an intrusion onto the tracks."

Wow. Highly unusual for someone to be killed on an elevated fixed guideway track.

Some one on UT posted this earlier, but the pages were taken down. They’re back up.

Not true for Yorkdale which has huge parking lots and numerous garage. Many come from transit, but the majority of shoppers drive to the mall.
A reminder that all the most successful shopping malls in Canada aren’t the ones with the largest parking lots: They’re the ones with the best connections to public transit.

Are those cars being cleaned?!
Almost half the Waymos on California streets are driving around empty. They're either waiting for the next customer or en route for a pickup.

If robotaxis scale, anything close to that level of deadheading would create crushing gridlock.

Notice “private” proposals.

Vancouver doesn’t want to pay.
it's never been clear to me why they got rid of the olympic line in the first place. like, the track and stops are there and it's a part of town that really needs east-west transit (and will need it MORE as the broadway corridor gets built out)
The City of Vancouver is considering private proposals to reactivate the Olympic Line with a new demonstration streetcar service.

If it goes ahead, the pilot project will begin sometime after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. #bcpoli #vanpoli #vanre

It will never end. Prepare for self-driving micro transit or some other dumb shit that will provide worse service than a fixed bus route.
HOW MANY TIMES MUST I WATCH A TECH BRO RE INVENT PUBLIC TRANSIT BUT MAKE IT WORSE
November 19, 2025 at 9:08 PM
If the city is willing to pay for it.. Do it!
Heavens to betsy, how can this be?

Frequent, reliable mass transit gets cars off the road. Air pollution plummets.

Gosh! Who'da thunk it?

Public transit is under threat from politicians and tech bros who want to private transit using apps.
This will be bad for riders and increase congestion.

I’m not a great political analyst, but I do feel Labour have made a tactical error by opting to be cunts.

NO
Lower ridership post-Covid, combined with ongoing budget cuts has caused a decrease in frequent and reliable public transport service for small and rural communities. Could India’s popular transport (or microtransit) be a model for filling gaps in these networks?

Microtransot is privatization of transit and it sucks.
The suburbs north of Orlando also just killed their fixed route transit with 10K daily riders to save a few million

It's baffling that leaders are still falling for the microtransit scam — ample evidence shows it is not a sufficient replacement

More thoughts on Mount Dennis Station, as promised. It's a good, if not great, design for the most part (particularly given the complexity), but wayfinding can be improved considerably. At least that's an easy fix.
