Relative to income a block of butter costing $8.60 on minimum wage is equal to the Frontera CEO paying $1055 a block.

The prime minister would pay $91 and our two right-wing knowalls, Peters/Seymour pay $60.

The fact that these four men can't do math normalization is staggering. #nzpol #bhn

Worse, the merchant will spread it across all prices including cash and eftpos. Everyone will be paying foreign credit card companies' profits, whatever payment method they choose.

EFTPOS is very low cost to merchants. But if this lower cost isn't shared with the shopper, why would they use it?

Banning card surchages is a terrible decision: the result will be an increase in cost to New Zealanders. VISA and MasterCard will be absolutely delighted.

NZ mainstream outlets now intentionally ambushing experts in order to attack trans rights. There's no possibility this wasn't signed off further up and indicates that NZME is a willing participant in the hate campaign. Can people please stop making excuses for them? Can other media workers speak up?
Ryan Bridge went totally off script. I was sent questions about the impact this is having on our community and what this means for community sporting orgs now and he didn't ask a single one. Instead I got pressed - repeatedly - to agree that it's unsafe for trans people to play alongside cis women.

University senior management and academics are playing different games.

The precision of Q. Atkinson's analysis is starkly contrasting wishy-washy rhetorical language used by University of Auckland upper management.

Universities need honest leadership, not a well versed damage control spin-team.

It's only a matter of time before we see an escalation of the violence they've already shown at Te Atatū Community Centre.

You have until 23 Jun 2025 to make a submission opposing the RSB and recommend that the bill is rejected in its entirety

Arts, humanities, and social sciences are under attack. The National Govt, Judith Collins & Shane Reti, are cutting funding, claiming only "economic impact" matters, ignoring impact on housing, inequality, culture, and communities? After all, isn't improving human lives the point of it all anyway?
