Tis the season for "Best of" lists, and for me it makes sense to theme mine around music.

But because I have shown uncharacteristic restraint this year, instead of ranking my 2025 vinyl purchases, over the next few days I'll play them all, in approximate order of purchase. #VinylWrapped2025
My daughter pre-ordered the new @bigbigtrain.bsky.social album for me for my birthday. It shipped last Wednesday, and is winging its way to me from Old Blighty.

Will I be able to maintain the willpower to abstain from streaming it so I can hear it for the first time on vinyl? 🤔🤘

Perhaps we should just admit that the country only works at all because of the network of Aunties, and start electing governments that are basically made up of Aunties

Interesting Fran decided to write on the subject.

Can be interpreted multiple ways as well both excellent (Wahine just being awesome) and Pale Stale Males in NACT1 are just fucking useless

No surprise. Brad Olsen is National in a trench coat. #nzpol
This week's lies, damn lies, and green shoots award goes to Brad Olsen (via Susan Edmunds). This is a particularly disgusting use of data - like so bad that the article should be removed. Let's have a look... [🧵 1/n]

I need everyone to know that on the crochet subreddit the mods made a big post about how they're taking a week off because there was too much fighting/political posts. so there's currently no mods on r/crochet and people are being absolutely insane

It’s choice as that New Zillund has thrown a long weekend to celebrate my birthday.

As a token of my appreciation I shall start Dave’s Birthday Weekend off in the appropriate fashion.

Same pattern was common last election campaign. So voters elected the Better Economic Managers™️ that are shit at managing the economy. #nzpol
Watched 3 News last night. Interviewer hauled prefect Hipkins over the coals in a interview. Same interviewer just let Nikki No Boats and the Bald fraud away with claiming the feels about the economy. No issues questioning Hipkins but don't be a coward and allow Govt to get away cheaply #nzpol

Jason Walls on One News was also spinning.

Basically his take was the figures are higher because there’s more optimism so more people are applying for jobs which means there’s more unemployed people to count. #nzpol
ThreeNews trying to put a government-friendly spin on the unemployment figures, claiming the job market is only barren in Auckland and those infamous "green shoots" are sprouting on the South Island. 🙄

What do you mean that firefighter is being investigated? We used to be a proper dildo throwing country. Where are our traditional dildo values? I shudder to raise my child in this dildo-at-politicians void world.

You'd expect this to be common sense to the Finance Minister of the Better Economic Managers™️ party.

And yet here we are. 🤔 #nzpol
When the government is one of the biggest customers of many businesses and you cut spending which means private enterprises don’t make money and so they also don’t hire any of the public servants you fired for no reason, you end up with the economy we have now.

Even Nicola should get this.

Being Better Economic Managers™️ involves far more record unemployment levels than I anticipated. #nzpol
