i wonder if he dropped the rent on any of his properties after giving himself a tax cut?!?!

who do you think the energy companies will pass it on to Luxon!?!

they're not going to eat the cost, they'll pass it on, and then some, to the consumer. So of course it will be paid for by the taxpayer.

you really are thicker than 2 planks ya eegit.

levy == tax

anything else is a lie.

How good are you at spotting fake AI-generated (news) content?

With the massive increase in AI slop and fake content hitting our screens, often from "reputable" sources, it's becoming harder and harder to spot.

Take the quiz here and see how many you can spot.

Real or AI? These photos were presented as news. Take a look and pick which ones you believe
A recent trend of AI images depicting real life news events has surged on social media, but how good are you at spotting what’s real?

At least now that we’re subsidising Fonterra, by paying billions for this new gas terminal, they’ll pay us all back with cheap butter and cheese, right? RIGHT?!?!

In an election year are they seriously planning on imposing a new flat tax (sorry ‘levy’) on us all?
To pay to import the most expensive fuel for generating power?
The price / supply of which is at the whim of a madman on the eastern side of the Pacific?

To save us money?
Bloody unicorn thinking.

The Govt claims to be pro-market yet: $200m subsidy for oil exploration; Uncapped subsidies to decommission old oil fields; $1billion subsidy for LNG imports; Fonterra faces zero price for emissions under ETS. There is a pattern here. They are using the state to support and subsidise pollution.

For years now, UK state owned rental properties have had swathes of solar panels on their rooftops, supplying clean energy to the grid. But clean green 100% Pure NZ is going to import fossil fuels instead. Fuckwits.

It's the most flawless economic plan since they paid $671 million to buy zero ferries.

To call the government’s idea of an LNG terminal a stupid idea is an insult to actual real life stupid ideas. It makes zero economic sense now, and it will make even less economic sense every year hereafter

If you’re as old as me, you might recall Muldoon betting the country on a collection of truly terrible projects called Think Big. This LNG idea makes Think Big look like a genius move from an economic wizard

About 45% of gas produced in this country goes to Methanex, the Canadian multinational. Fonterra is another significant gas user. Just in case you are wondering who stands to benefit most from the planned LNG plant which is to be paid for by me, thee and every other individual user of power.

Why are we subsidising Methanex, a Canadian methanol company, and Fonterra with a new gas terminal paid for by the NZ taxpayer?
February 10, 2026 at 8:40 AM
So not only do we have to pay a $1B tax for this thing, we have to pay another $1.7B too. Great.

Australia: let’s roll out so much rooftop solar you can have free power during the day
NZ: businesses are closing down because they can’t afford power so we’re building a one billion dollar fossil fuel terminal so we can keep not having free power
