Words can buzz and hum like insects in the air.

I'm not actually a cat. But that's a secret.

Tawatawa. Pōneke. Aotearoa.

I was BuzzAndHum. I stil am.
I'm sure I misheard it, but I'm sure the BBC journalist that RNZ is getting it's Darwin coverage from is named Andrew Haddaway.

Haddaway.

Random thoughts upon awakening this morning: I've been listening to Nine Inch Nails for over 35 years.

Fuck, I'm old.

Claude Rains gave the order to collect the usual suspects. And the camera came up close upon his face.

He watched as the plane left the airstrip, like hope leaves a dying man. But he hung onto the choice he'd made.

RNZ is playing Lake South.

One of my favourite local artists.

Play more Lake South, RNZ.

The orange turnip really as idiot, outmanoeuvred on all sides. And he's the only one who doesnt realise it.

Not quite sure what Stuff's angle is here. Dude got blind drunk then assaulted a police officer trying to help him.

Enough said, surely?

He got drunk on his first night on holiday in the US. What happened next changed his life
Marcus Good, a Corrections officer at Rolleston Prison, went on holiday to New Orleans. Now he’s behind bars, after assaulting a federal officer.

I'm sitting in a cafe in Island Bay. I have a dish of poached eggs on toast, a long black, and The Cure's "Pictures of You" is on the stereo.

This is pretty much atypical Gen X or something.

Not quite sure what that snippet on RNZ just now but, gosh, I really love the Welsh accent.

Guyon Espiner is one thing, but Paddy Gower?

They're definitely not Susie Ferguson and Mihirangi Forbes.

This almost requires a comical image of trying to decide between "lsd" and "woke.'

A little thing in love about our small country - and I write this as someone in my fifties who has been around politics and media most of my life - is how everyone sort of knows everyone.

Anyway, just had a chat with someone who could be a senior minister in the next government....

Remember, as each big huhu beetle flies with a great "thwap" into your windows over these summer evenings...

...they're basically in that form for only a few days to mate, then lay eggs.

I think that's lesson for us all.

Oh, this song.

Theia's "Girl, In A Savage World" is my favourite album released in 2025, and songs such as this are why:

In New Zealand law, strike action is only "allowed" during contract negotiations or when worker's health and safety are at threat.

Pretty sure today's FEMZ brief industrial action are ticking both those boxes. With a big marker.
