And, in things that will undoubtedly come back to haunt me, my decision to roast some pork (I got a big slab of belly, with lots of skin, for a decent price) is really gonna make the kitchen / lounge very hot. And no chance on opening a window in this wind.

This might sound trite or whatever but I'm serious. Every law enforcement officer should have to read, as part of their training, the Vimes sequence of Pratchett novels.
And write a thousand words bout what they took from them.
And those essays should be admissable in disciplinary hearings etc.
