I’m sorry but Reps effort to rig the rules of the game created unnecessary confusion and chaos for voters.

The lower court’s ruling to reset the map was the correct decision and ensured some semblance of order.

If you’re still not convinced. Just read the dissent. It’s off the wall bonkers.

I was talking to a student about this during office hours! I told them their professors are outstanding in their field and they should take advantage of that and really learn from them. I think a lot of students at UAlbany don’t necessarily think about that.
Thinking a lot lately about the simple fact that college allows people to spend about 15 weeks immersed in a disciplinary conversation with an expert in that field. And what a special thing that is.

Incompetence from the top down.
DOD contractors “mistakenly” landed on a Mexican beach, declared it US property and planted “restricted area” DOD signs, triggering a tense confrontation with armed Mexican forces.

Mexico removed the signs, insisting the area is theirs.

Yet another example of total incompetence.

Quick read is this is good and novel for a popular piece. Distills a lot of political science into some new tests of new data. A reminder too that most "swing" voters aren't swinging ideologically, the way pundits talk about them. The have their headphones on jamming out to their own economic music.

The same cannot be said about salsa.
I would like to state that… restaurants should not try to make their version of ketchup. Heinz got that good good. Unless you got that recipe on lock? It’s just sad tomato soup.

I 100% do not mind arguments that Dems need to moderate. It's a very uncertain question and there are plenty of qualitative insights to be discussed on all sides

I extremely do mind when elites think fake numbers are Science™

@brennancenter.org amicus brief makes a compelling argument for the constitutionality of VRA section 2.

It also includes an excellent summary of section 2, the Gingles framework, & remedy. Plus there are case studies!

Highly recommend for course syllabi .

Invoking Lucy-tricks-Charlie symbolism does capture a decades-long pattern in bad faith negotiations by GOP.

Still, the metaphor has a limit.

This has not gotten much attention, but it should.

Virginia under Youngkin returned to an insanely harsh system where people convicted of any felony lose their voting rights FOR LIFE.

Dems' win this week mean they'll get to advance a constitutional amendment to end lifetime disenfranchisement.

This seems huge, and deserves more attention.

SCOTUS has gone out of its way to make it harder to sue Fed law enforcement for damages when they trample—sometimes literally—on your rights.

Illinois just made it so their resident can sue the Feds in state court.

Feds fail us, states step up.
The Illinois legislature had passed the “Illinois Bivens Act,” allowing people to sue ICE agents in state court. Just waiting for Pritzker’s signature.
