This is hell actually, "Last week, the two top officials at the National Institutes of Health—the world’s largest public funder of biomedical research—debuted a new plan to help Americans weather the next pandemic: getting everyone to eat better and exercise."
It doesn’t matter how much you exercise or how many veggies you eat when it comes to a pandemic.

These things will not stop it, and the shitbirds that Trump has installed in leading public health positions should be fired for even suggesting it would.
RFK Jr.’s Miasma Theory of Health Is Spreading
The NIH is picking up Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s argument that a healthy immune system can keep even pandemic germs at bay.

The woman on TikTok calling the mosques and asking if they’d help her with formula and 100% of them asking nothing but what kind do you want and where are you is the Muslim I am, the Muslim I know. And it really makes the hate that much more unmooring.

This is correct. It’s VCs who spend their time doing drugs and inventing weird religions, executives who have boners about firing workers, and non-technical hucksters who are pushing this stuff. The vast majority of people doing actual technical work on the ground feel the way this piece describes
Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

I’ve witnessed small tech companies having “vibe coding” hackathons where the whole company joins in, with claims that whatever winning idea can stay long-term for the eng team to maintain 🤡 And this is with eng teams already underwater on tech debt!
What also worries me is recommendations for vibe coding (as “programming for the rest of us”) from folks like Justin Wolfers. I’m fine with that for truly one-off scripts, but it ignores the code life-cycle being 90% maintenance (great thread from Pookleblinky).

AI today is literally not capable of replacing the senior engineers they are laying off. corps are in fact getting less done, but they're banking on making an example of enough people that survivors put their heads down and help them implement AI in exchange for keeping their jobs... for now.

longer version of my quote: the megacorps use AI as pretext for layoffs, but actually rooted in end of 0% interest, changes to R&D tax credit (S174, h/t @pragmaticengineer.com for their reporting), & herd mentality/labour market fixing. they want investors to believe AI is driving cost efficiency.
