This is not the time to have your articles behind a fucking paywall
It’s amazing to me how you can watch Sinners and not understand that the vampires were white for a reason

“The devil” was also Irish, for a reason

And no I will not be explaining further. Read a book about US history

Y’all have had ALL the vampire movies.

LEAVE US ALONE!!!
Same. I've seen people (yes, they are) say they want a Sinners prequel exploring Remmick's past in Ireland. lol

Sinners. Monkey Man. The Woman King. Everything Everywhere All At Once. Polite Society. RRR. Snowpiercer. Attack The Block.

I need a lot of films to be like this: a memoir.

I would love this because there's a lot of Native American lore about vampires and it would be great to explore it. I could see Coogler producing and having a Native filmmaker bring it to life
I get why people want various spin-offs and sequels to Sinners but. . .

The only story that would carry on and align with Sinners thematically is the story of the Choctaw people who were hunting the vampire.

I need to know if I'm the only one who cried during Sinners... I was so moved by the entire film

Ryan Coogler really loves Black people. His approach to the history of the Jim Crow South was done with so much care and reverence

It's also just a cool fucking film. The action. The vampires. So good

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

This is a phenomenal example of mutual aid.
A doctor has been serving one of Baltimore’s poorest neighborhoods for decades — and if his patients can’t pay, that’s OK with him.

So when he was diagnosed with cancer, his community rallied to raise $100,000 for his treatments.
For decades, a doctor refused to charge patients who couldn't pay. When he couldn't pay, his patients came to his aid.
When Dr. Michael Zollicoffer was diagnosed with two types of cancer, his patients started a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $100,000.

And I keep coming back to how in "Becoming Human: Matter and Meaning in an Antiblack World",

Zakiyyah Iman Jackson, citing Hortense Spiller, writes how Black women have ALWAYS been precariously included in the category of womanhood and can be excluded and included at any moment. 1/

And…
Walmart called the police on a cis-woman using the women's bathroom.

Even after proving she's a woman, "one deputy continued to question her appearance, insisting she 'looked like a man.'"

😡 😡 😡
Cis woman confronted by police officers in Arizona Walmart restroom for looking too masculine speaks out (exclusive)
“The only men in the women’s restroom were the cops,” Kalaya Morton said.

True story: a few years ago, I was being interviewed by a reporter for the New York Times. I mentioned the history of eviction statutes and how they tied into Jim Crow.

The reporter asked "what's Jim Crow?"

When I explained, the reporter didn't believe me and said the US wouldn't do that.

Kendrick is on a RUN. He has 5 of the top 10 songs on Billboard's Hot 100. And he's landed 3 albums — GNX (#1), DAMN (#9), and good kid, m.A.A.d city (#10) — on the Billboard Hot 200. It's the first time "a rap act has placed at least three albums concurrently in the top 10."

Cuomo is no longer “telegraphing” his run, he’s now blasting it like Wagner at a deafening volume.

Adams has to go, but we can’t trade one disgraced dishonest narcissist for another.

Prayer warriors, get on the mainline
If Adams resigns or is removed, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams becomes mayor.

If that happens before 3/26, Williams would need to call a nonpartisan special election within about 80 days.

If Adams leaves office 3/26 or later, there would not be a special election. www.thecity.nyc/2024/09/17/w...
What Happens If Eric Adams Resigns? Can He Be Forced Out?
The public advocate is second in line, but he won’t be interim mayor for long. Here’s how things would all shake out.
