I feel like whenever I would worry about younger generations forgetting the lessons of WWII, I always thought it would be more like they wouldn't know about Hitler at all or fall for a similar despot, but I did not expect that they would like specifically get *into* Hitler. Like a folk hero.

Maybe not what Orwell had in mind, but we have reached a sort of “2 + 2 = 5” situation where the White House wants us to believe “87% = 600%” a reality which would derail all of mathematics if true.

I understand that a lot of folks have been misled by fear-mongering and powerful regressive voices but it’s still astonishing to me that so many have fallen for the idea that oppressively policing other people’s gender identity and expression could in any way be part of an enlightened future.

The fact that we have super wealthy and extremely stupid people trying to set themselves up as new nobles has made historical nobility, which I only know from books, far more real to me. These people were not smart, they did not rule well, and rigid hierarchies of domination are very bad.

I think, in general, the level to which people have conflated “I personally support my friend” & “my friend suffering consequences for their actions is mean & maybe even immoral” in the post-MeToo/collapse-of-public/private-self-social-media-age is alarming.

A feel like the goal of a liberal democracy (and to be the stewards of it) should be to defend people’s right to *be* however they want to be. Demanding people “be more culturally normal” isn’t just stupid it’s also an impossible quest.

Not a big conspiracy guy, never been my inclination, but it seems pretty obvious to me that they keep doing these brazen murders to get people used to the idea when they start doing them against Americans.

Even if we were to take voters at face value that they backed Trump because they wanted cheaper eggs (and we shouldn’t), it would be entirely unacceptable to support someone who speaks about other human beings this way no matter what price he could get eggs to (and he couldn’t)
