Lisa Murkowski didn't go into politics to get death threats. She went into politics because her dad was elected governor and she was appointed to fill his seat in Congress. You know, merit.

Can district courts order the executive branch to engage in specific acts of diplomatic negotiation?

If SCOTUS doesn’t think so now, why did it let Matthew Kacsmaryk force U.S. diplomats to negotiate the revival of a Trump border policy in 2021 after Biden tried to end it? slate.com/news-and-pol...

Breaking: Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he plans to place a hold on ALL Trump nominees going forward.

This will force Republicans to hold individual votes to override each hold, which will severely slow down their agenda.

I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”
I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff

Senator Cory Booker -- nearly 23 hrs into this -- is more coherent than your average elected official speaking (while seated) at an average legislative hearing.

Even if you haven't been watching all along, dip in for a moment -- he is making considerable sense:

I really hope this becomes a rallying moment that marks change. I hope we see @booker.senate.gov continue this fight, break the record, and then withhold unanimous consent moving forward!
HELP! I'm being inspired against my own will! I'm feeling seen! I'm uncovering hope under layers of cynicsm! Who is this spokesperson for a self-reflective party that is committing to fight back, and what does he think he's doing??
Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

When's the last time you heard an "I'm sorry, I fucked this up" from a person in power like this? Voters like someone who is strong enough to do a mea culpa. You won't find anyone in this administration or anyone in the GOP ever admit to screwing up. This is big for me.
Holy shit.

“I confess that I’ve been inadequate. That the Democrats have been responsible for allowing the rise of this demagogue.”

Gives an impassioned apology and points to this as a moment of personal vow to action.

The idea that tips and gratuities shouldn't be taxed is, frankly, ludicrous. It is a setup for a huge tax loophole as well. It is a huge subsidy on business/franchise owners, empowering employee compensation below the poverty level.

I really don’t do well when I’m dealing with mechanics, contractors, or other people who are highly skilled in trades.

Mechanic: “so what’s wrong with your vehicle.”

Me: “umm… well. It’s broken. If I knew what was wrong, I wouldn’t have brought it here.”

Yep. We just up and left multiple developing countries high and dry despite agreements in place. Terrorist groups will fill the void and we will be their target.
They’ll never accept it, but everyone who cast a vote for Donald Trump did real, generations-long damage to the United States and the west in exchange for essentially nothing of value.

So the Trump admin defense for the signal “leak” (for lack of better word) is that they weren’t actually war plans like the Atlantic claims because we’re not at war.

While they are also claiming the president has the authority to unilaterally deport anyone because… we’re at war.
