Beyond thrilled to share that I'm writing my next book, AT HOME IN THE STARS. It's about the human expansion into space and space as a human environment. Think Carl Sagan meets Robert Macfarlane. 🪐✨🧑‍🚀🌱 If you want updates / news when the book is (someday) out: jaimealyse.behiiv.com

I will no doubt read and enjoy all your very good Nuzzi jokes, but I also want to say earnestly, so many of us (myself included) are on the verge of being pushed out of this industry and it's genuinely so dispiriting to see the worst among us, ethics-wise, get such preferential treatment.

Saying "females" when you mean "women" is gross and weird, but sometimes we need to include girls in the grouping, so "females" is appropriate, like when men in power are sick pedophilic fucks, hope that helps

you know when you're thin-slicing the exact moment where pedophilia ends and ephebophilia begins, you are on the right side of an argument

annoying new author scam dropped, trying to get you to pay to get your book to a book club that does not exist, by way of a really obnoxiously chat-gpt'd email :)

Cleaned up my book's Scrivener project, which had accumulated awkwardly from magazine feature to book proposal and now book, I feel like I've powerwashed the inside of my head (good)

never mind that the draft folder is empty

Wild that the rumor of such a thing sent a gunman into a DC pizza joint but he's since been killed by police and the entire conspiracy architecture that sent him to Comet is firmly committed to the sex crimes president.

If 3I/ATLAS is an alien Trojan horse, then why would there be any anomalies at all? Surely they could dress it up to be identical to our typical comets.

In a couple of days I'm going to open a quick, experimental call for very short, solstitial submissions at @necessaryfiction.com, something I've wanted to do for the past couple of years but didn't quite get it together. Further details TK.

A boomer recently asked me why more “young people” aren’t protesting. I told him that they in fact are, but also that the consequences of even mild protest have changed a LOT since he was in college.

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

There should be a fiction anthology of Short Kings. Sadly I'm too tall to be included (5' 8.65"), but I think it would be nice for them

One of my favorite thing to tell normal people is "Sam Altman also runs a failing business were he scans the eyeballs of people in poorer countries with a device called "the Orb" and puts the data on the blockchain" and watch their heads spin www.businessinsider.com/sam-altman-o...
Sam Altman's eye-scanning Orb startup wants to hit a billion users. It's less than 2% of the way there.
Sam Altman's startup, Tools for Humanity, wants its Orb to scan a billion irises to create a "World ID." Regulators worldwide are sounding the alarm.

very pleasing thread
Last year, I reviewed every single NBA City Edition hat. I have something special planned for later this month when the new editions drop (watch this space!), but, when I saw New Era release these HARDWOOD CLASSICS hats, I knew I could not stay silent. So, as a prelude, here goes HAT CRITICISM:

Ok, it's a new day, it's a blue sky, I want to find a very specific niche of the internet. I love hoops, I love hats, and I love writing criticism. I'm going to review all thirty of the 2024-2025 NBA City Edition New Era fitted hats that dropped today. Here goes nothing... 1/x

The lesson of an exercise like this is that not all change is progress. Every step the Nuggets take away from this logo is one further step out of the Light of the Lord. They should install stained glass windows with this logo in the Ball Arena. Nikola Jokic should play in a rainbow cassock. 9/x

My kid does better making potions out of shampoo and conditioner in the bath
I am obsessed with this guy in the Rancho Gordo FB Group who decided to spend hours working with AI to figure out "the best" bean recipe instead of.....looking at actual recipes

Truly an abomination — and such a good example of how AI tricks us into thinking we can reinvent the wheel with its help
