District court judges are engaged in a bipartisan project of [forgive me] actually calling balls and strikes. Republican circuit judges are largely going full-tilt partisan.

Larry Summers is good at connecting donors and funders to institutions who want money and access. His educational position is a perk he was given for that job – not the other way around – and perks are the *first* thing you lose after being confirmed to be a weird fucking creep.
I know that at this point it's a subplot in the Epstein files drama, but I feel compelled to point out, once again, that Larry Summers HAS NO BUSINESS teaching students at ANY university ever again!

Why Is Larry Summers Still Employed?
The revelations about the economist’s attempts to pressure a women into a “relationship”—with guidance from Jeffrey Epstein—should finally disqualify him from teaching students.

there’s no rule that says a dog can’t play james bond
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

by the time you actually have the popular support necessary to create a viable third party, you've likely already taken over an existing party. you've already won, go home.
you cannot create a viable third party without changing the constitution.

to change the constitution, you need control of one of the major political parties, at minimum.

anyone refusing to accept this is a fucking child i'm tired of entertaining.

It may no longer be implemented in time for the next Census, but I think the latest version of SPD-15 still requires that detailed race / ethnicity categories be included in federal surveys e.g. Asian Indian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean.
one thing that is clear from the precinct data is that "Asian" needs to be disaggregated (in ways that weren't really the case in 2024)

Zohran ran up large majorities in heavily South Asian areas while running closer to even in heavily East Asian (primarily Chinese) areas

many people dislike steven pinker's habit of laundering dubious personal opinions that don't hold up to factual scrutiny, but people shouldn't sleep on the fact that he's also an asshole.
The committee hosted Steven Pinker, who said, "Canada has the reputation now of being more woke than the United State... because of some of these EDI programs and policies that are being put in place, researchers do not feel welcome here."

This fantasy is being deployed to create anti-EDI policy.

Curious why there's been huge nationwide changes in speeding enforcement over this period, but seemingly no change in the percentage of speeding-related serious incidents.

More larger SUVs may partly explain the increase in deaths, but its clearly not the whole picture.
Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."
Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US?
It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.

There are a total of 2,200 unaccompanied minors in the ACF Office of Refugee Resettlement's care. The kids here represent a large portion of all child refugees for the entire country.
DEVELOPING: Advocates are seeking a court order to block the Trump administration’s effort to deport hundreds of unaccompanied minor children to Guatemala.

Judge abruptly moved 3 pm hearing up to 12:30 after she was notified that some children “are in the process of being removed" today.
