it’s NFTs all over again. I work in tech and even I was told “you just don’t understand them.” I understood perfectly — but the point of these scams is to make you think you aren’t as smart as they are and that you’ll miss out on the Next Big Thing if you don’t give them your money.
The AI zealots are starting to sound like the gun nuts, ignoring the general objections to the overall issue and instead dismissing critics for a lack of technical expertise.
If you want me to accept that LLMs are a general use technology — an unavoidable one at that — you will have to give up your expertise domain when people talk about it colloquially.
