Over the past 6 years or so, I've done a Spotify Wrapped (W)review on my socials.

It started as an excuse to talk about my music taste, but this year I sort of went off the rails.

The thing is, Spotify has changed a lot this year, and my wrapped felt incomplete without talking about these changes.
As a method of continuing my fight against Spotify and it's notoriously awful practices in the streaming space, I humbly ask you to watch this video.

there are two types of male groupchats. they either have a name like “BONER BOYS RES[ERECT]ED: HORNY 4 LIFE, 2 CAKED UP 2 DIE” but everyone’s just encouraging each other on breakups and to try therapy. the other will be named something like “gary chat” and filled with domestic terrorists

Buried in this article about Meta doing yet another terrible thing is a first (for me, anyway): The Guardian quotes one of Meta's own AI bots as though it's human, speaking with a journalist about the lack of diversity of its creators.

You're never gonna believe this. What if I told you that the official Devil May Cry special edition version of Bury the Light was actually being spoofed by some random AI cover? The album art was adjusted, the song accredited to Casey Edwards, but not actually his version of the song?

That a dude with a couple cameras and a plate of appetizers can make something worth $82.5 million and a media company looks at that and goes "couldn't we make even more money if we had AI do it?" tells you exactly how stupid these people are
The $82.5 million sale of "Hot Ones" studio First We Feast is part of a broader strategy at BuzzFeed to shift away from human editors, writers and content producers in favor of artificial intelligence, which result in "high-margin, tech-enabled revenue lines."
