Maybe it's because Amazon didn't allow the scammer to replace the artist's original track on their service, funneling any users that had it in their playlists to the spoofed track, therefore skyrocketing any ad revenue gain.

But frankly, I think it's impossible for them to be entirely remiss of blame.
They may not be the ones directly uploading these tracks, but they are facilitating this behavior.

The track plays have been transferred over, but the meta-data is all from the scam. Spotify has been presenting it as the legitimate song.
