Let's discuss the *actual* charges against Judge Hannah Dugan using the Complaint against her.
tl;dr - she sent the man in question into the public hallway where agents there to arrest him watched him walk by and did nothing. 1/

This is a good starting thesis - focus on public administration - and has some good ideas but misses a lot of key points, and mixes up some stuff. Its a good provocation to get the conversation going. Some thoughts 🧵
“To fix the problems of American governance… A good place to start would be where government is currently under assault: public administration. It’s not enough just to defend the administrative state — it must be strengthened.”
Opinion | Democrats Need Their Own Version of Project 2025
A call for a reform project that is ambitious, radical and iconoclastic yet grounded in a genuine desire to fix the problems of American governance.

Do I know if the Democrats' messaging will click? Not really. Does Chuck Schumer look silly at these rallies? You could say that.

But I remember covering the early Tea Party rallies in February 2009, when the CW was "look at this stupid shit, do Republicans actually want to associate w this?"

I see more criticism here of Democrats in Congress than I do condemnation of Republicans.

And yet it is the GOP who are enabling Trump.

It tells me a lot when I see you regularly bash our side but say nothing, ever, about the other.

Reflect on your choices. You may be helping the fascists.

By advocating for zero-based budgeting in government, one immediately reveals oneself as a crank who knows nothing about the last five decades of public finance.

We all like to yell at the Democrats, but it’s really Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune who are letting Elon Musk and his faceless goon squad make a mockery of their power as leaders of a coequal branch without uttering a peep or lifting a finger.

Ottawa Senators fans just loudly booed the us national anthem at the hockey game in Ottawa. They are playing Minnesota.
Having been to a few hockey games in Canada I can tell you that just doesn’t happen.

A big reason satisfaction with "your personal life at home" plummeted to a new low recently was Republicans ... between January 2020 and January 2025 Gallup recorded a 43-point decline in personal satisfaction among self-identified Republicans.

a critical thing here is that wapo/nyt subscription numbers are down *because people see them as Vichy media*
There'a been a lot of media talk about how "the Resistance is dead" for which the evidence is Dem electeds aren't fighting and cable news and WaPo/NYT subscription numbers are down.

We should not overread into this one result, but consider: those might be the last Resistance's metrics.

Coverage cannot continue to be “he says this, he signed that, they got this e-mail.” The rapid speed of delusion and chaos is the point. We need context and impact. Is it legal? How is it happening? How will it be challenged? What’s the history of the policy and agency and why is this unprecedented?

I actually don't think this is true. His appointments in the U.S. have opened up space in the U.S. Bishops conference for much more forceful responses to Trump this time than in his first term. You can already see this. Empirically the U.S. bishops are much more vocal against Trump this time.

Unlike 2016, when Francis was at the peak of his popularity and surrounded by world leaders who were in open opposition to Trump, the pope is now 88 and an increasingly isolated voice in his appeals to promote migrants and peace in the world.
