1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

I lied. Well, I was uninformed.
BLS says the government shutdown means the jobs report and JOLTS this week will be delayed. No date yet.

Jan ISM Manufacturing index jumps to 52.6 from 47.9, highest since 2022. New orders rise to 57.1 from 47.4. A turning point? The ISM says: "January is a reorder month after the holidays, and some buying appears to be to get ahead of expected price increases due to ongoing tariff issues." 1/3

While the most important thing is that he's back home, I'm really glad Liam got his hat and backpack back.
Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

WSJ reports Trump has chosen Brett Matsumoto to head the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Matsumoto was a career staffer at the agency before moving over this past year to the Council of Economic Advisers. Trump fired previous director Erika McEntarfer in August, falsely blaming her for weak jobs numbers
